She was so happy and proud of her team in her post race interview at NCAAs. Now she's abandoning them as if she was too good for them??? She wasn't even their top runner at NCAAs.
hardcore big double standard guy aye
An honest question: If you are against double standards, why do you call the NCS women by their first names only? As though they are cute little possessions.
You do not call NCAA men Bill, Frank, & Ted without using their last names. I find this one of the many creepy parts of a few posters with you at the head of the list.
The indoor season already started. There is also a transfer deadline as far as admission goes for normal students, I don't know for student-athletes but the timing of her transfer is really off.
She is, in fact, in the transfer portal. This is a fact. She very well may transfer to NC State right now. Since she raced for Alabama at Boston Indoor in December - if she transfers - she will not be immediately eligible for Indoor. She will lose indoor eligibility. That's a fact. Also, the 30 day window when your coach leaves - since Will Palmer would be considered a position coach (Dan Waters is the Head Coach) - then, this would not apply to her. Regardless, the 30 day window is simply not a thing for track and field.
She is in the portal - totally fine to speculate her next move. I do find it odd that she is not listed as a graduate transfer. She has to be close to completing her undergraduate degree. Seems short sighted to leave right now without getting a degree. But, both Florida and NC State have already started school (so, she needs to be on campus now) - Alabama starts school tomorrow. Florida and NC State are both semester schools - so, if she has not already transferred, it's unlikely she is at those two schools. If you want to speculate, then start looking at schools that are quarter or trimester schools - like, for instance, many schools in the PAC 12. If that's the case, she could sit out indoor - train on own and then enroll in April at a quarter school and compete outdoor.
Hmm, her coach left to go to Florida. She has three options:
1) Stay at Alabama and see who the new coach is
2) Follow her coach to Florida
3) Transfer somewhere else.
Did any of you even think that maybe she entered the transfer portal just so she can talk to other coaches and see what they have to say? She has nothing to lose. Just because an athlete enters the portal does not mean that she is going to transfer. It's like getting a job offer from another company. You let your boss know that you are going to discuss the offer with the company ("enter the portal") and meet with them. If the offer is not what you thought, you just stay at your current job.
Explain how Mir McLean UVA women's hoops played for UConn December '21, transferred to UVA early Jan '22, and played for UVA in January '22. No hardship or coaching change. Like indoor track, bball is a winter sport..
Where there is smoke there is fire, so sure looks like NC state at this point. You and some other posters may be right though that move is for fall '23, and as a grad.
