19:19 is a crazy time on a hilly course... you have to properly execute a race plan to get to that and not just hammer it up front well i guess you have to hammer it up front because surely no one will push the pace that hard other than the person who wants to break the record, and i dont think kemboi wants to break the record, she just wants to stay close to katelyn, meanwhile mccabe would also do the same and just draft behind katelyn ... so the effort to break it will all be on katelyn. Its going to be tough yea.
Looking at past LACCTiC ratings for this course 19:19 would seem to result in a 5K rating of below 14:50 which seems awfully fast for mid October (or maybe for for any college athlete anytime). Last year 20:08 was 15:37. In 2019 20:35 for Chmiel was 16:07.
I just don't see the record going down. Especially if the course was short when it was set as others have posted.
I do hope to see a fast race, and I really hope Mccabe is there. Would love to see Chmiel race. Excited to see Kemboi as well, she is running well.
Seriously? When a top athlete is at the top of their game AND improving, it’s exciting so there is chatter about it and some disagreements, and discussions. Sorry to have annoyed you.
There are plenty of other discussions about top athletes, in fact, as of this moment there is a thread about Connor Mantz that has 141 posts. He did GREAT today!
This is not a Katelyn Tuohy thread. You have many other specific threads to spend 5 pages talking about Tuohy. It is especially bothersome when you have the same group of 3-4 obsessive individuals who talk in circles with each other about the same thing in EVERY THREAD.
100% agree. Here’s a better story that I haven’t seen discussed. Jerry Schumacher will be back in town with his Oregon Ducks. Recall Jerry was incredibly successful coach at Wisco until he left for Nike. Will be interesting to see how quickly the Oregon programs are back on the podium and contending to NCAA. I believe Jerry’s son also transferred to Oregon from Stanford and may be running.
Yes, because that is a specific thread for a specific athlete. This the "Nuttycombe" thread. Not the "Katelyn Tuohy at Nuttycombe" thread. Look at the Chicago Marathon thread; there is discussion on many different athletes and performances. Only when Tuohy is involved do things get weird, because of 3-4 specific obsessive posters. It ruins the discussion.
Chill dude. So what if people 'obsess' as you call it? Who cares. Fans are fans. Ever met any die hard football, basketball fans? Fan shaming is lame.
She is #1 ranked woman in XC across all ranking sites, OF COURSE people are going to talk about her heading into the biggest race of the season before nationals.
She is a popular female athlete. Tons of threads on LR extolling male athletes and endlessly digging into how they will perform. I think the posts are entertaining, and I am glad to see female sports getting attention.
First of all, even though I am a Tuohy fan, I agree these threads can often get completely wasted as people (both fans and non-fans) will start to run on about information/debates that are completely useless...and Tuohy is often the focus as she has likely the largest fan-base of any current runner.
But on the other hand, she is a favorite to win Nuttycomb so she certainly deserves a fair amount of attention on a Nuttycomb thread.
But just to drive a point home....you come on to the thread to complain about 'Tuohy posts' taking over the thread, and so far have posted 10 or 12 comments on this topic....which are about Tuohy. If you want to direct the conversation elsewhere, why don't you quit complaining and instead post about runners who you want to discuss.

Wonder if he will train the college runners the same way he trains the pros?
Getting back to this race, on the W side I am most interested in how these runners fair against each other. I have all of them ranked between 7 and 40 in basically three groups of 10 so this result will help firm up my projected team performance estimate. Someone else mentioned the Duke athlete which will not affect my team estimates but this will be a good test for her. I think AR and CO will be more focused on this race than they were the OSU Jamboree.

I agree she deserves a fair amount of attention. Emphasis on fair. Not the ENTIRE thread. I hate to break it to you, but this thread is long dead. I am simply putting flowers on its proverbial grave at this point with my posts.
Anyway, this is my last post on Tuohy, hopefully pages 8+ will contain something a bit different from pages 1-7.
I checked out LACCTIC’S race simulator for the women’s race and it came up with:
1 NC State 2 New Mexico 3 Northern Arizona 4 North Carolina 5 Georgetown 6 Colorado 7 BYU 8 Notre Dame 9 Utah Valley 10 Michigan
1 Katelyn Tuohy NC State SO 2 Samantha Bush NC State JR 3 Everlyn Kemboi Utah Valley SR 4 Isabel Van-Camp Arkansas JR 5 Emily Covert Colorado SO 6 Gracelyn Larkin New Mexico JR 7 Sydney Seymour NC State SR 8 Emily Venters Utah SR 9 Elise Stearns Northern Arizona SO 10 Marlee Starliper NC State FR 11 Aubrey Frentheway BYU SR 12 Amelia Mazza-Downing New Mexico SO 13 Annika Reiss Northern Arizona JR 14 Taryn O'Neill Northern Arizona SR 15 Emma Heckel New Mexico SO 16 Amina Maatoug Duke SO 17 Samree Dishon New Mexico SO 18 Maggie Donahue Georgetown JR 19 Savannah Shaw NC State SR 20 Brynn Brown North Carolina SO 21 Chloe Scrimgeour Georgetown SO 22 Kaylee Mitchell Oregon State JR 23 Sami Corman Georgetown SR 24 Lexy Halladay-Lowry BYU JR 25 Kayla Windemuller Michigan JR
NC State possibly having 4 in the top-10 is pretty legit considering its Nuttcombe, and as was mentioned either earlier in this thread, or in another, New Mexico is an outside threat. Throw Chmiel (if healthy) into the mix and its a phenomenal potential team performance.
3rd overall projected for Everlyn Kemboi would be awesome for her, she’s had a great start to the 2022 season!

horrendously inaccurate top 50 lol. Missing so many big names from BYU, Syracuse, North Carolina, Utah State, etc. But I respect the time/energy to make such a long list. Call me crazy for not thinking Washington will have 5 guys (if any at all) ahead of people like Casey Clinger.
Someone else mentioned the Duke athlete which will not affect my team estimates but this will be a good test for her. I think AR and CO will be more focused on this race than they were the OSU Jamboree.
Arkansas’ Van Camp looks to do well as an individual up there racing with the top 5 or so, and Colorado’s Covert as well.
Sure wish Brynn Brown (UNC) and Katelyn Hart (Michigan), (among others, such as Dudek), had better transitions to college and been up there in our projections. It’s good to see Starliper (also from that era) getting into her strength and showing she’s a top contender.
