Yes, settled laws can be overturned. Your media sources have in fact misled you, sorry you had to find out this way.
Quit assuming what media I consume and maybe listen to something other than far right propaganda yourself. Of course precedent can be overturned. Although roe has been reaffirmed several times which makes it closer to a super precedent, although none of these justices would agree to classify it as such during their hearings. my argument isn’t that it can be overturned, it was solely based on the loss of confidence in the Supreme Court.
Roe v Wade was decided in part upon reliance on a prior interpretation of the 14th amendment in Griswold v Connecticut. In that case, the USC struck down a law banning the possession, sale and distribution of contraceptives. The main basis for the opinion was the notion of a right to privacy that exists as part of the 14th amendments "liberty" guaranty. So, while it is true that women can still get contraception, there may not be any constitutional protection against a state law banning contraception after Roe's reversal. And it is not speculation as to whether states would ban contraception. Idaho and Louisiana are considering IUD bans. With Roe's reversal, right wingers will be empowered to try and ban contraception outright.
Yep. Clarence Thomas' opinion made it quite clear that they're coming for contraception and gay marriage next. Congratulations, conservatives, you saved all the fetuses. But no paid family leave so parents can bond with those forced babies, right? No child tax credits to support families, right? No expanded SNAP benefits to ensure those kids don't go hungry, right? No universal Pre-K to give these kids the best possible chance of success, right? Yep, now that you've saved all the babies, you can go about the important business of making sure they spend the rest of their lives suffering. Just like God intended. You're all so very pious.
Since most posters are men who are a little mysogonist, I want to give you some real ideas of just how bad this is.
you don't realize how many women and girls have sought and needed abortions. They are women you know. They can be your daughters and nieces. I know you think that won't happen to the women in your circle but I promise, you don't know everything about the women in your circles, and it happens to them.
You probably think abortion is icky or bad morally but there are so many reasons women and girls need them. Reasons you can't fathom. You might be celebrating today, but this might be at your doorstep tomorrow in a really negative way. Girls are going to die because of this. Please remember that while you are celebrating the "unborn"
I'm incredibly worried about girls who live in states where abortion and contraception are going to be banned. To keep it running related, this is going to affect which universities women choose to attend. Girls 18-22 are not going to go to college in a state where abortion and contraception are banned. You might see a downturn at the University of Arkansas, University of Alabama, University of Florida, Florida State.

I can make assumptions about what media you consume because I can see which false talking points you parrot.
A justice isn't going to tell you how they will rule on a case during the senate hearings. All they did is answer questions about the current state of the law. If you thought there's a controversy here then you've been misled, don't know how else to put it.

What will be fun to see is a counter offensive by Jewish groups who claim that abortion bans force Jews to adopt Christian views on abortion. Jews do not believe that a fetus has a soul and existing life should always take precedent over potential life. Thus, Jews believe that they should be free to have access to abortion and that is based on their religious faith. Abortion bans violate the free exercise clause of the Constitution, a favorite of Alito and Thomas.
Specious argument.
Jewish women have far less abortions than Gentile women. Many Jews, going back to Margaret Sanger believe in abortion for Black population control. Argument by Jews is not a concern for their ability to obtain an abortion as they wish for European Jewish women, your argument is really about Jews ability to pressure Black women into having abortions.
Sanger was not Jewish. Sanger was against abortion. She promoted birth control. She has been wrongly accused of promoting birth control in black communities as part of a eugenics agenda. Sanger saw the desperation of poor people who had very large families (fertility rates among the poor were very high back than and poor families with 6+ children were common). She felt that people were having children because of religious edict and not because they actually wanted more children or could afford them. When she spoke of the "unfit" in her beliefs on eugenics, she was pretty much talking exclusively about bible thumpers who thought that they had a duty to God to have as many children as possible regardless of whether they could feed them and take care of them.

Already happening. My daughter is writing both Alabama and A & M to inform them that she is no longer considering their institutions. Both recruited her for long sprints/multis. Looking solely at Pac-12 schools in CA, WA, and OR now.
So 6 unelected people (only one of whom is a woman) have taken away the rights of millions of Americans - all of whom are women. And they did it without firing a shot. Governments around the world will be envious. But none of them will be democracies.
How can you take away a right that was found not to exist?
The constitution does not define all rights. If that were so individual states wouldn't be able to make laws permitting abortion, contraception, same-sex marriage etc. Rights exist when they are enshrined in law - and states can make laws. This SCOTUS has decided to take away a federal right because of the personal and religious beliefs of 6 of its members - all of whom were unelected. I await the decision giving the states the right to choose whether or not to have slaves. The retreat to the past beckons.
I see another idiot making idiotic comments. First off women are raped and victims of incest, not being a whore. Men are the reason for that. There are plenty of men whores who rape people. If men could get pregnant, you would be the first to be raped and impregnated you fool and then forced to have your b*****d baby if you live in a backwards a** state.
The comment applies to men and women
Abortion is extremely avoidable. Use contraception, get a vasectomy, etc. Make good choices
An unborn child is an American with rights. You are not permitted to take any life, if you think you do then you’re a human rights violator in the wrong country
So, why don't the pro-abortion folks start the process to amend the U.S. Constitution to provide an express right to an abortion?
While they're at it, I suppose the same folks could amend the U.S. Constitution to cancel the express right to keep and bear arms.
Doing so would settle many debates, or is that not what is really wanted?
Can we put it to a direct vote, one vote for every adult citizen in country.?
Well, first kudos for recognizing that citizenship does have it purposes, and that voting is limited to adults and citizens. In case your school didn't inform you, people in the United State of America live in a democratic republic as established by the U.S. Constitution. A direct vote is only at the local level where citizens can elect their representatives. The U.S. Constitution provides the method to amend it in Article V, which states:
Article V The Congress, whenever two thirds of both houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, or, on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments, which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states, or by conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other mode of ratification may be proposed by the Congress; provided that no amendment which may be made prior to the year one thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any manner affect the first and fourth clauses in the ninth section of the first article; and that no state, without its consent, shall be deprived of its equal suffrage in the Senate.
So, if you what to put the issue to direct vote, first amend the U.S. Constitution to permit the direct vote.

Man you are thick headed. And I haven’t said one FALSE talking point. Let me spell it out for you. Only 25% of Americans have confidence in the Supreme Court right now according to a recent gallop poll. That is a FACT. That’s liberals and conservatives and everyone in between. It’s the lowest it has ever been. I’m not parroting anything and honestly, your bias shows far more than mine. I don’t care about the precedent; or even the decision. My only point, which I have stated multiple times but you are too singularly focused to acknowledge, is that justices say anything to get the lifetime nomination, and then go right back to their beliefs. That’s not a new thing, and it’s certainly not limited to conservatives, but Americans no longer view the court as making decisions based on laws any more. They decide based on their feelings and then try to adjust their decisions accordingly. there are no middle justices. And that is what I am stating.
Why not blame Obama or Clinton? Both could've passed laws codifying Roe v Wade when pres with both houses, they preferred to play with fire to sit on the fence and scare their base. It's on them as much as Trump.

Oh no! It’s going to be harder for these women to kill their babies!
it’s like you cannot even comprehend the pro life argument. It’s like I’m listening to someone argue we need to make it legal to kill bums. Just because someone is an inconvenience doesn’t nullify their lives.
