The TikTok stories about him and Tennessee not doing him any favors :/
i’ve been waiting for this thread to show up again because of that stuff. not a good look at all. the current tennessee athletes being hostile online isn’t helping either.
for anyone unaware, a former tennessee athlete,
whoops, accidentally hit “post repy”.
anyway, a former tennessee athlete, cheyla scott (@cheyydubb), posted a video talking about why she transferred. some of the allegations in the video include:
- an extremely toxic team environment
- athletes constantly fighting and trying to turn each other in to get a higher scholarship
- hostile behavior from the coach towards injured athletes
- bad athletic trainers
- a somewhat shady recruiting process
- verbal and mental abuse from ross
several other people have responded agreeing with what she said. what’s interesting is that no one has actually said that he’s a bad coach - just that he is an awful person. matches a lot of the things i’ve heard in general since his time at NCAT.
What a blunder. Sears doesn't see the end of the season, T'Mars might be hurt, Zyaire is in the portal, and Carlson isn't getting the results on the track.
In case you were wondering, their 13 person staff is costing the athletic department $1.46 million in salaries alone.
Wasn't too long ago that the program was earning trophies and firing coaches.

This is why coaches just recruit a bunch of foreign athletes. You never hear about stuff like that coming out of those programs.

Bynum has also been battling injury for much of the season

What happened with T'Mars?
What happened to sears? Unfortunate bout T'Mars if so. He was running well
Across the board short to long seems to have very high short term returns but seems to be taxing and somewhat diminishing long term results.
I wonder if all the explosive movements cause issues in long term development or if they're just way overworking them over there
Are these coaches(Ross/Carlson) under contract? If so, how many years? You think they’ll get renewed? I heard bad things about Carlson especially as a recruiter in Tennessee against mid majors out there

They were both extended after their first year. Reasons unknown. You can find their contracts here:

Carlson and his social media team love to talk about school records and top 10 performances. Great, spike technology has allowed you to run faster than UT guys from 20 years ago. Those guys were scoring points and grabbing XC All American certificates. That’s what matters… not the school record board. Carlson, if you are reading this, shut your mouth and get you kids to score!!
