Yes, in fact both of them were impeded.

1. if you are complaining about this, you have probably never been a competitive runner on the track. He was running to win. He didnt cheat like shelby
2. On the same note, I bet the same Bowerman Backers think shelby is clean and Chelimo should be DQ'd. Laughable!
Innately low class. Would have been funny to see him trip and fall flat on his face.
low class move. will root against him at the olympics
If they wanted a DQ Fisher and Woody should have held their lane, then Chelimo would have tripped up. The trick would be them not falling themselves.

Pushed them all the way out to lane 4... blatantly obvious.
That is how you race.
Obvious you were never out in the front battling to the line.
The rules, Letsrun, Kincaid and Fisher don't agree with you. As far as I could see Chelimo only occupied one lane of a nine lane track, leaving eight other lanes open to pass. Kincaid and Fisher didn't have to speed to pass even if Chelimo had stayed on the rail. The lead runner can run in any lane they choose. It's not a DQ to not run in lane 1. It's only a DQ if the lead runner throws out their arms or physically impedes the trail runner. Choosing not to run in lane 1 isn't impeding.
I don’t think he got any advantage. If the could’ve out kick him they would have done it regardless. He was the fastest anyway.
But he’s a high caliber douchebag. Grabbing kincaud from the head like that, celebrating with Fisher when they did not want any contact with the lad. The whole race as a show from him. What a clown. A fast one, though. Hope he gets destroyed by Jakob.

I would think there will be a formal protest
The guy he impeded is going to the Olympics anyway and probably wouldn't have any interest in filing a protest. The guy who would benefit from a Chelimo DQ (the fourth place finisher) doesn't really have grounds to protest because he isn't the one who was impeded.
DQ would have been warranted, but I don't really see a successful protest here.
Dirty tactics are not new to Paul Chalimo. He pulls people’s arms, elbows, crosses lanes. This situation of him cutting off Fisher and Kincaid cutting off their ability to advance is pathetic. Then to right after congratulate and be like we are the team boys way to go. What a load of crap.
Changed my mind.
Chelimo used good tactics.

Obviously intentional and he admitted as much afterwards.
You are correct. Question here from a novice: why didn't Kincaid and Fisher cut back into lanes 2 and 1?
No need to disqualify him from the race. The USOC can simply remove anyone they want from the US Olympic team for being a gigantic douche bag.

First time watching elite competition?

Understand that its big people competing.
Paul Chelimo has the whites triggered bigly

800m runner here.
When a runner is just a little ahead of you on your left and your stride is overlapping, to pass on the left you would have to slow down, drop back a stride until you were clear, cross over, and then accelerate just to get back to where you were. You just don't have the energy to do that at the end of the 800 or 1500.
Others pointed out that if Fisher just held his lane, Chelimo would probably have made contact, but who wants to get spiked?
If this had happened to me, I might not have realized it at the time because the brain goes fuzzy at the end of a middle distance race, but I would have filed a protest after I saw the tape and let the judges decide.

They don't teach you that at Stanford.
The Kenyan gold medalist in 2012 crossed the finish in lane 17. No whining and complaining then. Chelimo is fine.
Chelimo will need that kind of personality in the Olympics. Looking back at Lagat. He was teamed up against when he competed against Kenyans. They would box him in to prevent him from passing using his kick. I think Chelimo's personality will be great in competition in the Olympics.
This is thread is just stupid and another example why this MB is becoming increasingly unreadable.
I've always like Chelimo but his tactics leave him exposed in a lot of races. He is lucky not to be DQed more often.
I just watched the delayed race, and I don't think Paul really impeded them and he would have won anyway. I can't speak to whether he actually broke a rule or not tho.
