Great. Try peacefully gathering or, God forbid, peacefully protesting said COVID restrictions. Looking at recent history it appears the Aussie government doesnt take too kindly to that unauthorized behavior.
What a stupid response..moran
Now why would I attend a gathering of Covid deniers , anti vaxxers and break the law?
I have told you I support the govt, in fact they should have gone harder earlier.
...and anyone abusing our great cops should get a night in the cooler...morans.
Gotta love this city
While I agree with you that I would also not be attending a lockdown protest I do appreciate what the American is saying.
The main misunderstanding here is that in the United States the right to free speech, freedom of religion and freedom to gather & protest is bordering on a religion. In most of the world, even free countries like Australia and New Zealand, things like freedom to gather and protest aren't worshipped to the same extent.
Is this a good thing? During a pandemic probably not. But if the US government does get legitimately out of control, overstep its boundaries and inflict some kind of police state on the US people they will find they have a very hard, if not impossible time doing so. This, combined with the fact the United States is huge, the states have most of the power and the that almost half of Americans are armed is why the kind of lockdown Australia or New Zealand imposed on its people would be impossible in the United States.
