Jakob Ingebrigtsen runs European record 12:48.45!!!!

I'm definitely not a fanboy of Jacob, and I've though until now he gets way too much attention (even accounting for his age...I'm one of those guys who doesn't mind watching the Africans run so I don't need a great white hope to follow) but I'll admit I'm mostly impressed. Nice strong finish from Jacob. The only thing I didn't like was, again, how he bashes and leans into other runners. Yes he is bigger than others but it doesn't give him the right to do that. Comes across as dirty to me. But, today it didn't impact the final result, which was an impressive win over a world-class field.

And as much as I don't like his bumping and such, you can't argue with a European record at 20 years old. Exceptional run!

How much western propaganda have you absorbed? Sounds like you need to wring yourself and squeeze out that brainwashing. Newsflash. There is no great white hope. Whites have already achieved everything they wanted to. It's others who have much to catch up.

Lol your post is far more weird than mine. Read again what I said: I don't need some great white hope to follow like so many in the media seem to be with Jacob. Why does the media not go nuts over Barega in the same way? (Before today...Jacob just gained some legit hype today).

Oh, and, umm, I'm not white.

Anyway, my point is that I'm not a big Jacob fan but he impressed me today with this race. Kudos to him.

As you know no white people need running to survive anymore. It's a chance that some white of higher caliber will decide to stick with running. With Jakob this is that that chance.

I guess Norwegian media (and much of Europe) will be excited to follow a young phenom such as Jakob and not write as much about Barega just as the Ethiopian media will equally write much more about the great black hope Barega and minimally around Jakob.

Hold on a minute. Just 2 days ago some Africans running fast times lead to Letsrun declaring the death of the sport. It was described a gross, appalling, tragic. Now we're celebrating the second coming?!?!

Karsten Warholm was tested 16 times in 2019. Jakob probably around the same amount. Antidoping Norway started to test Jakob when he was 14. Hundreds of times is too much, but he obviously get tested alot.

Btw; you wont find a single Norwegian skiier that has been caught taking dope that has been beneficially for his/her own achivements. They have in two occasions broken the rules, but not by taking drugs that boost anything at all.

Gebrhiwet also had run a nationals race or another race several days before he handed Jakob a sound defeat in that 13:02 race, so this was a major improvement for Jakob in every way. He was dropped for a while then caught up and was going easy with the leaders and then just pulled away and had more in the tank. With Cheptegei not at his best yet (but getting a bit closer, 7:32 is worth about 12:58/13 and he ran 12:54 leading much of the way here), Jakob soundly beat the medalists Hagos and Ahmed. This is the first time he's done something like this, and with a 12:48 under his belt, he knows he can win in a slow or a fast race. Let's face it, the 7:27/3:28 told us last year that he was ready to go sub 12:50 and he's just coming to physical maturity. Pretty exciting to see how he's developed over the past five years.

No, I've never said that. Perhaps you're confusing me with Casual Observer? I've argued against that logic many times. I'd agree that it would be very unlikely for a clean Kenyan to run faster than the hundreds of Kenyan dopers, but it's not impossible for clean European to run faster.

Fantastic to see Jakob take the European record away from a Moroccan doper. Next up El G's WR. Every performance restoring some sanity and hope to this great sport. He will likely end his career with 3:24/12:30 or faster.

Testing is cosmetic. It isn't catching the dopers, bar a few who are careless or dumb.
