Corporations are not citizens and should not have "politics," make campaign contributions or waste money on "charities" that all through a Supreme Court mistake in the "Citizens United" case may even be deemed tax deductible. Individuals have politics. Corporations have marketing strategies.

Saucony has recently started using more white men in their marketing. At the start on 2024 they didn't have a single white apparel model on the website. So the company has improved in this regard. But sadly the shoes have gone downhill the past 2 years. They ruined the Endo Speed with those horrible plate wings. They turned the Endo Pro into a boring and overpriced trainer. The Triumph is now a clunky senior citizen shoe. Kinvara Pro was an interesting alternative to the Endos but it's let down by subpar outsole durability. They don't have a single compelling shoe under $250.

Hard agree that the plate wings are a fail. Nobody seems to like that update so why have they kept it for three updates now? And they discontinued the sinister, the first legit racing flat in years, despite it selling out. Also, their power run hg foam was an L. There's a reason their 'super-spikes' debuted at $150-180 and now go for like 30 bucks on amazon and no one wants them.

Going back almost a month, Saucony chose on Giving Tuesday to donate 25% of sales to Black Men Run, Inc. , and Black Girls RUN! Now, for example I have an email from PayPal on that same day. They were asking for donations to American Heart Association, March of Dimes, Feeding America, World Food Program USA, St. Judes Children Hospital, International Rescue Committee, Save The Children, American Lung Association, UNICEF USA, Habitat for Humanity, and CMN Hospitals. Besides already having a line of shoes where 10% of sales go towards She Should Run, a nonprofit organization that supports female leadership in politics.
Today’s email Honoring Martin Luther King Jr. day shouldn’t have come as a surprise. But the suggestion of what to read, including: How To Be An Antiracist, So You Want To Talk About Race along with others, suggestion of what to watch: Black Panther, I Am Not Your Negro, along with others, Who To Follow: NAACP, Check Your Privilege, along with others was just a bit much for me.
As a white male, I’m not sure how Saucony expects me to feel right now. I’m on your email list to see what’s new and hopefully get a 20% coupon once in a while. This isn’t what I’m looking for from my running shoe, so because of that we’re done. I’m not sure when all these businesses decided they needed to have their opinion heard. Michael Jordan said it best “Republicans buy sneakers, too”
No insults intended. I'm a 65 year old male who has been woke since the days when it meant you have compassion, empathy and love for others.
The organizations you mentioned need help, white men running does not.
All of the organizations you mention are worthy and if Saucony chooses to give to them it's a good thing. It doesn't hurt you.
Look around at the next local 5K you're at- let's assume there are no invited Kenyans, etc.
How many Black-American men and women will be running.
Go to a high school cross-country invitational. How many black boys and girls will be in the race.
If donating to Black Men and Black Women Run encourages more to take up this healthy sport that teaches a healthy lifetime lifestyle that's a good thing for all of us. From a healthier society overall to more and bigger and hopefully better local races.
That's just one perspective and I think your question was valid and good and could spark discussion which can only lead to more and better understanding.

Why is the demographics important? Shouldn’t it be just people - just runners?
what if they don’t want to run long distance? What if basketball, football are more exciting?
Not sure if you have kids but one piece of wisdom of being a parent is that you can’t force kids to like certain activities over others. They gravitate to activities that they like and enjoy.
making it into a racism overture - especially when it’s just a shoe company trying to sell shoes - does nothing to help society, in fact it makes it more divisive.
i used to be a 10 year long customer of Saucony using the Grid Stabil. They’re a dumb company now and have stopped making it. That, plus the other innocent shoe gripes from others posters shows that your point of view on this topic is political: “it’s not about the shoes, guys, it’s about the percentage of black people in local 5ks!”

I ran hs xc roughly 5 years ago and there were always a few east African Americans (mainly Ethiopian descent) placing pretty highly.
