You’re just saying that Trump campaigned better than Hillary in the rust states and that’s because he lied without impunity.
Republican policies are not better for the working class.
As far as elitism:
Democrats are in favor of free college and trade schools.
Money shouldn’t be a reason to drop out of college.
And college debt makes home ownership and simply cost of living more difficult.
Trump’s pro coal polices have not helped coal miners.
These workers could be setting up wind and solar farms.
They could be setting up infrastructure to expand broadband to more rural areas.
Democrat policies are better for the working class, including those with no college education.
Again, access to more healthcare is a big help to them.
Republicans suck at helping anyone but themselves or their donors.
1) Hillary didn't even go to some of those states. She should have. Trump outworker her, not because he's a hard worker, but because he's a narcissist and loved those rallies.
2) I agree that Democrat policies are better for the working class, BUT perception is important, and many of them became upset with Democrats for the reasons I listed.
3) Democrats have NOT been very good at their message about college. It is the 4-year and above college that puts people behind the 8 ball financially, not trade schools, AND Democrats always talk about "college". They NEVER emphasize trade schools. Should have done that with every breath that they talked about college. Even there, it's not quite equivalent. Free college means a $200,000 or more advantage to a 4-year college-bound person. Free trade school is maybe $30,000 for 2 years. MORE needs to be done for these working class people.
4) Regarding Trump and coal, and Trump and anything, you are preaching to the choir with me. Democrat leadership needs to do more to reach the working class. It should almost be their primary function. Today, as we are in 2021, the working class, especially white working class are the biggest snowflakes of them all. They need some attention. Just having policies that educated elites say are good for them doesn't necessarily make them ok with that.
5) While I agree with you about health care, working class people want more money and more opportunity sans college. Democrats need to think about what it's like being in their shoes.
6) Again, I agree with you about Republicans...current and former GOP before Trump ruined it. Democrats need to change their messaging. They can't just assume blue collar people are with them anymore.
