There is no way Trump will flee to another country. If he went to one that would accept him, he would be under the thumb of a leader that he could never trust and who could humiliate him on a daily base. There are limits to Trump's stupidity.

A lot of authoritarian leaders choose exile over facing the music at home. There is a good reason for that and their choice is little different from Trump's. Though granted, some flee because they are afraid of execution.

The ones who choose to stay home are the ones who believe in the righteousness of their cause. Trump is not one of those.

But we will see. In the end it's a tough decision for him and I could see him taking his chances with prosecutors. I just think that a sniveling coward like Trump is more likely to run away.

He proved that once already this week. He talks big, then cowers.

I still say he's in Russia by Jan. 20. Melania will end up in Monaco.

Manchin opens the door for a Republican (Collins, Murkowski, Romeny, ?) to side with the $2000 checks and establish themselves as a reasonable centerist. Meanwhile, Manchin locks in another term. Manchin may have already made a deal with a Republican to set them both up as centrists. That is my guess, because I do not see Congress not approving then increased checks, and there is no reason for Manchin to make such an announcement at this time.

I'm all in for the Democrats and I don't think the stimulus should be upped to $2,000 for everyone under a reasonably high income.

Allocate that money to support state unemployment benefits.

Give it to people who have lost income.

Agreed - methinks he's been in conversation with a few Republicans and Dem leadership. His Senate seat is very carefully balanced one because the consequences could be severe.

+1. I don’t understand the obsession with this idea that a one time payment is going to help all that much. People who have lost income need income replacement in a recurrent manner through extended unemployment or, you know, a job not a one time windfall that can be easily squandered.

I’m pretty on board with most progressive policy and find it absurd that we are debating 600 vs. 2k like either will actually address the real problem.

Now for impeachment, the should have impeached Trump and held the senate trial Wednesday night/Thursday morning when they had everyone there in the Capitol pissed about Trump and formally giving Biden the electoral win.
