But there are advantages too. It's probably the least messy outcome and it saves face for everyone.
There is no way Trump will flee to another country. If he went to one that would accept him, he would be under the thumb of a leader that he could never trust and who could humiliate him on a daily base. There are limits to Trump's stupidity.
A lot of authoritarian leaders choose exile over facing the music at home. There is a good reason for that and their choice is little different from Trump's. Though granted, some flee because they are afraid of execution.
The ones who choose to stay home are the ones who believe in the righteousness of their cause. Trump is not one of those.
But we will see. In the end it's a tough decision for him and I could see him taking his chances with prosecutors. I just think that a sniveling coward like Trump is more likely to run away.
