It is strange that after living through the Clinton and Obama presidencies, some Rs still think the Ds want to turn the country into some weird socialist state.
I mean what are these people thinking? They saw Clinton and Obama did nothing like that.
But they are told to scream 'SOCIALISM' at the top of their angry lungs, so they do it.
agip,
Most likely you are correct on the future. The Supreme Court packing and admitting new states are likely political threats. Besides Schumer’s rule changes in the Senate backfired. As noted earlier with a Democratic sweep, still 45% of the population will remain in opposition. That 10-20% of the population can swing either way. You see that in minority voting trends, where increasingly votes are moving away from Democrats, that have done little of substance in recent decades.

Court packing is probably not going to happen, but that would be a serious crack in the firmament if it did.
I have no problem with admitting new states tho - we've always done that, and having PR as home to so many Americans (almost twice as many as Idaho!) but not be a state is just not right. If that is what they want.
And having DC not a state is weird. It would be very small, 700k, but still larger than VT and WY. I'm all for that, and I don't understand how an even-minded American would view otherwise.
But you are right that the nation needs to bind up its wounds. I think Biden is just the guy to do it. Thank goodness Warren or Bernie didn't win the nomination - they would just be gasoline on the fire. Biden can help mend this, and more importantly, he WANTS to mend this.
