This ^ is such a load of crap, it's hard to believe that you are still spewing it.
I personally called for a lockdown in early March, after looking at the situation for about 5 days. Those individuals whose job it is to protect this country had vastly more information than I did and had it at least several weeks earlier.
With a rational response to what was already happening in February, (and political courage to do the right thing in leading the country), we could have capped this whole thing at a few thousand deaths, tops.
P is right. Other countries were faced with the same situation and did much better with even less lead time. There was failure at both the federal and state levels.
Two issues:
1) Would it have been possible to do better? Yes, of course it was possible. I'm not aware of any major successes in that period in big Western nations. Maybe Germany. I feel less strong about this.
2) Would things have been materially better in the March-May zone, if a Dem had been president? I feel pretty strongly that March-May would have been similar had a Dem been president.
AFTER that period, I believe the Dems would have saved tens of thousands of lives.
