Not entering with the intent to get a finisher medal and strolling to the finish or grabbing a ride. If a participant’s pace falls below the course time limit, they have a few options:

•Increase their pace to stay within the event minimum pace;

•Board a “sag wagon” shuttle to move forward on the course, where they may continue to participate in the event, maintaining the minimum pace required;

That's not the way I read it.

I don't see anywhere it says they get a medal and a time.

It says it allows them to "continue to participate."

My interpretation: Instead of getting yanked off the course, they get a ride up to where the race is still going on. Behind them, the course is probably being torn down and reopened to traffic.

Just a guess, but they probably mark the person's bib so they don't get an official finish. A big X across their bib, perhaps???

Dumb idea to cater to people who can't finish, though.

It just goes to show that RnR Marathons are party first, marathon second.

I don't know if you went to college, but let's say you did.

Call it the University of Running.

You worked hard, you got good grades, etc.

Your diploma means something.

You are now a proud alumni.

But recently your school has lowered their standards.

Kids are studying for a total of ten minutes/week and bombing the tests. However, if they fail, they complain and the University has a bottom dollar to think about so everyone gets a passing grade no matter how badly they did on the test and no matter how little work they put into it.

Students are celebrated for taking 15 courses per semester, it doesn't matter that they receive an inflated D- in all 15 courses, because, wow, that's a lot of courses, so who cares if they don't actually learn anything at all.

Now, when people hear the name of your University, they picture the D- minus student who graduated "with honors" and who cause to tuition being jacked up so that everyone could get a special shiny diploma that is bigger than the diploma at Rival University.

"But Jerkface, isn't studying 10 minutes a week better than the kid who dropped out of high school and works at the Goodyear plant making tires and watching the clock until it's time to hit the bar for 6 hours each night?"

Maybe it is, Maniac, but don't ask me to celebrate, or even tolerate, either one.

We are almost at end of August, mid summer and a lot of hot marathons this summers so far. I have finished over 100 marathons / ultras this year. I still have another 60 or so scheduled for the rest of the year. I will not even be close to 213 from last year, but hopefully will recover from all the injuries and get faster in my times. List of injures and health problems this year, 2 broken toes on new years day which took more than 3 month to recover. I have also been dealing with menopause, which has not helped me with performance and gaining weight. The problem I have had with 3 broken ribs, 3 different times, keeps coming back, sharp pain which leaves me breathless sometime. Not counting all the mental issues we have, if you are reading this and liking it! Why run so much, because we can. These are all the reasons why I have to try harder and run more. There is no excuse and there is no fear, I am ready to take on everything life has planned for me good or bad, I will take bad and turn it in to positive energy to keep me going.

The video posted that I saw was clearly jogging and walking. She mentioned getting faster, hence my response. Slow is slow and she sure looks slow in the video and I'm not being mean, just honest.
