The financially prudent move for the little egg man when he sold his place would have been to buy something bigger and cheaper out of the burbs and closer to the mountains. If he doesn't have to be near Denver for work and is always driving these long round trips to run in the mountains, why not sell up and move closer to them? Save time and money.

The fact that he appeared to have some financial sense back on the day and now lives the way he lives is probably a big reason why quite a few people think he came into some money (selling OBS, trust, etc).
