This^ concerns me more than any other concern. My girlfriend and I are mid-forties, have been dating for 5+ years. She is beautiful, always trim/fit with minimal excercise, we laugh our asses off all the time, my 2 kids adore her and the sex is fantastic. At times, she is even more focused on sex than me, which I did not think was possible. We live separately and spend most weekends together. At 47, I am wondering if that is going to dry up in a few years?
The last of her kids are off to college next year, and I am thinking it is a good time to get married, she has been extremely patient. I want to keep her happy, but it would be terrible if the sex ended. In my first marriage, it slowed quite a bit by year 12, but was not really a causal factor in the break-up.

Why get married at all? Sounds like your children and hers are close to independence. Is there really any overwhelming reason to get married at this point? Why not retain your independence and enjoy the bliss.

There are some benefits, but the only overwhelming one is that this is a major emotional need of women and they have come to expect it, almost universally, because of how they are raised. For women it's not about logic, it's about romance and emotions. I probably would not be attracted to a woman who was all logic.

I think too many guys are too damn passive and need to ACT in a way that screwing is just expected. None of this asking for sex crap.
I'm a woman and you are totally right about how we expect to get married because of how we are raised. But how do you know your g/f even wants to get married, especially at her age? Maybe she's more logical than you think and doesn't see the point? Because honestly if you already have grown kids and things are great the way they are, what IS the point? If it's not broken......

I think there is more to just jumping on your wife and getting some. Is it possible you are doing something right outside of the bedroom too? Sounds like she is happy with you which makes her feel good and therefore wants you too. Unlike men, women respond positively in the bedroom when they are treated well outside of it.

This issue isnt even marriage specifically but ratherliving together.
Dont fix what aint broke. You live separately and things are great. Good. Leave it that way.
