MIAC 2025 XC

As we move to 2026, can we please have a non-Northfield coach be MIAC Coach of the Year? Only two non-Northfield coaches have won since 2007! And really Power should have won in 2023, but the coaches despised him so much he was the first and only non-winning MIAC coach to not win Coach of the Year.

Who will step up? Young Maxwell, the flag carrier of the Miles coaching dynasty? A new body at Hamline? Calvin and Chad from St. Scholastica? Will Schofer win the title enroute to qualifying his team to the National meet on the course he ran daily as an athlete?

Just revisiting to say this poster was correct about his prediction to split the Ole programs. Thought it was weird they did it in season and from I’ve learned they told Power of the demotion before the Indoor conference. Definitely odd timing of such a prolific announcement. Makes me wonder how much of the supposed rumors were true? Any Oles want to weigh in? Our coach heard he was pissed the AD wanted the program to be the same as the women when thought they his team was successful enough and he was upset they cut his salary since he was only coaching XC and distance. I would think it would have to be something that petty to leave before Outdoor. Or maybe he was really pushed out by the strength coach as many have posted. Either way, the Oles had a strong Outdoor season, so they are probably in better hands with two head coaches and way less drama.

I know for a fact that Power told the seniors he wanted to be closer to family and he had a the toxic work environment with admin.
Take that for what you want, but with the number of documented issues with this dude, it’s clear he was the problem and the admin were finally holding him and his team accountable. Success can’t make up for behavior. But he’s ancient history and will never coach again after leaving his team in season and having a boss that will definitely give him a bad reference.
