Had a very nice talk with the infamous Ole assistant AD today. He is very excited about the future of the team and believes he has a staff in place he can build into champions. He said they can’t win outdoor but with his leadership he expects the team to be more competitive in the future. I asked him he fired Power and he said that he while he didn’t force him to resign it is best for the program and that they would have had a long talk in June about whether they would renew his contact after not meeting his standards of behavior, budget management, and recruiting non-distance runners. He talked a lot about “his team” and “my staff” so it seems like he’s fully behind the Oles improving. We’ll see if that happens. Bethel and St. John’s have the first two spots clinched. Concordia and Gustavus will be battling for that third spot.
I’m not about to read all that, but I’ll just say that didn’t happen. Weird stuff to be posting on a Saturday night. Maybe go talk to a girl? Go to a party?
I am hoping conference is more organized than their April meet. You could tell they were getting used to someone else being in charge.
Gustavus junior Nick Brauer traveled to the Meet of the UnSaintly for a stacked 1500-meter field on Friday night and finished seventh, which was second overall across
While the Johnnies had a lot of dudes go sub 15 at Platteville last year, Kipnick’s squad this year probably has the record. Maybe the Oles or Carleton in the 2012-15 era.
A lot to unpack here. Yes the Oles have the most under 15 this year, but many are graduating. I’m not certain DuVivier plans to stay and I’ve heard Seppanen misses the chillness of the Luther staff, but a new coach may have changed his mind. Unfortunately for the competitiveness of the MIAc, the much more heralded recruits of Mac and Carleton haven’t made the leap I expected after a stellar Indoor. We can always count on the Johnnies to develop over their time on that rock farm of a campus, so maybe they will rise to the occasion next year.
I think many of us felt the Oles had underperformed last Fall and Indoor and getting a coach that had the type of success Kipnick enjoyed with the 800 men and women at St. Olaf is the perfect recalibration. It’s no secret Phil’s and Power’s teams were their best when they had great assistants. Hopefully Kipnick can bring someone in compliment his methods, because what he has already changed is hitting the mark.
And I believe the MIAC record for sub 15 is six.
Based off the IG post, the Oles graduate more athletes than some teams have on their roster!
A friend and I were talking about this thread last night, and how the pattern is 1. A prediction is made 2. Someone rips the prediction apart 3. Someone else rips that person for ripping someone else 4. Another person says 'guys lets all be friends don't rip on each other' 5. Results come in, and someone rips them if they're Tommies or 6. Says they have no chance in hell of doing anything in the conference. Now, granted, there are some exceptions, and those are my favorite parts to read of this thread. Yes, I know someone is going to say "Why do you keep reading this thread then?" and I guess I just keep hoping there will be civilized discussion, but that could just be wishful thinking. Anyways, after getting that off my chest, here is what I have to say... "
Continued to make a bogus prediction of how Indoor MIACS in 2007 would go
Keep this in mind this week, lets keep the MIAC LETSRUN tradition strong

I read this to say the Oles are the new Tommies, just not as dominant. Or good looking.
Will the MIAC coaches finally get their wish of a fast 1500m? Can anyone push Cole? He will crush everyone in a kickers race, so I expect Gabe to take it out to try to run his legs out.
Will Bethel use Hootie on the 4 x 800 after his 1500m and run the 5000m? His movement forward in the rankings from Indoor really helps Bethel score points in areas they didn't Indoor. Can he surpass Graber's 12 points last year?
Will anyone load a 4 x 800 in hopes of beating the Ole Cish team of - Ruesnick, Martin, Heimdal, and McInturff? Power always liked to throw 1500 runners on one leg, so we may see Bullock instead of McInturff.
The way you write is mad predictable, you should stick to one username dude. NotKevbot, updaterofthings, BuffaloNickel, now OleOleOxenFree. Personally I liked BuffaloNickel
Anyway. The 1500 will be exciting - I'll guess the top 3 to be Cole, Gabe, and Bullock. The order, not so sure
The Johnnies would be dumb to use Cole for the 4X8 but they will still likely get a comfortable 2nd. MIAC record watch for the Oles
Tort should run the relay as a warmup before the 10K. Then he’ll have three wins and may get athlete of the meet. Might as well take 2nd in the 1500. How many points did Fiona score? Can he top her?
Devin steps down at Hamline. Is now the time for our King, Aroc Brodie, to assume the mantle. Or maybe we’ll see Power trundling down Summit Ave this year.
The Hamline had a very nice announcement of the his departure in marked contrast to Power’s departure.
To be able to win the relay and still run fast without open 800/1500 scorers is super impressive. Coach Kipnick deserves much more attention for what he’s accomplished despite losing the head coach.
Looks like Mac is holding some guys out for the relay, but Scholastica is racing everyone in the open. Who do we have as the first three teams? Olaf, Mac, Bethel?
Will Carleton triple Gabe? I expect them to be better than we think they will be.
Indy but he might be hurt and Silberman could be fresh with Gabe and Lange doubling back. That sounds like a 7:49ish relay. Possibly could use Coyier, but he has an outside chance of scoring in the 5000m. Surprised more people aren't talking about what an impressive season he's had. He ran sub 4:00 and 15:23 as a freshman. I'd argue that puts him in the conversation for top distance freshman with DuVivier.
