Similar to Clovis, JSerra was without Morales again, and their preseason #4 and #5 were there #1 and #3. Newman's transfer has really worked out, getting MUCH better XC results than he had before. If their big 3 can come close to the promise they showed last track season, they would have a big 4 and a 5th good enough to make them competitive for the #2 NXN auto-bid. But "if"s don't count, they have to put it all together at the right time.
Morales due back for CIF Finals. If healthy and ready, JSerra will be players.
The guy started running his sophmore year of high school against kids who’ve been running since club or at the very very least a year ahead of him. Managed to run 14:43 at state course and 13:51 at Woodbridge. No one also talked about how he ran 8:40 last year in track and was #1 cali in the 3200 all season. He didn’t race 32 at state to do 4x8 with his team. So yeah…EVER.

I think you got the wrong Northern Section there pal. I'm from there and don't recall running against Monte Vista and San Ramon in between my races against Oregonians, weed growers, and Sasquatch.

Oh man I didn't even notice that part! Too funny. North Coast and Northern, same thing right?
Just so everyone knows, there are 10 sections. You can basically leave out SF and Oakland Sections because they aren't competitive. So that still leaves you with 8.
Oakland section should be part of NCS and SF should be part of CCS- I don’t get why they need to be their own separate section. You got schools like Bishop O’Dowd an College Preparatory that should be part of Oakland section but are part of CCS, and you got schools like Sacred Heart Cathedral and Saint Ignatius that should also be part of SF section by the same logic but they’re not.
Griffen Kushen is also in the same boat- didn’t start running until Sophomore year but is already running times as fast Manny his senior year (apparently his older brothers did run but he was just a basketball kid). 9:08 and 4:12 are still impressive pr’s as Junior- with the way he’s going he’ll probably be sub 4:10 and sub 8:50 by the end of track season

In all fairness most years you can leave out the Northern Section too. Occasionally we have a competitive individual or team but the population density is so low that we don't have a consistent talent pool. Having an all divisions section XC championship is pretty cool though!

Ay they did seem to give up on NorCal but shoutout Arrin Sagiraju. People are always talking about Caldwell when it comes to NCS runners but Sagiraju has also been seeing drastic improvement too- they’re also both from the same league. Sagiraju has gone from mid 17s his sophomore year to 15:26 his junior year to 15:06 senior year (possibly sub 15 at state). And don’t get me started on his track pr’s- 4:23 sophomore & 11:02 sophomore (I assume this wasn’t all out) to 4:11 junior and 9:07 junior. I’m telling y’all don’t count out Arrin Sagiraju- he’s definitely got the credentials to go toe to toe with Maximo Zavaleta, Conor Lott, and Mason Nguyen just to name a few.

Congrats on the improvements, although they're all pretty typical... but settle down on the self promo, Arrin. You finished 41st at Woodbridge.
Using this year's current data, I ran a hypothetical extra large meet, then took the top 20 teams only and rescored a power merge (which I think is how they do it now). Note the scoring is lower in this power merge than in hypo-mapping merge, because teams run faster in the state meet than at this point in the current year, so the hypo-mapping merge is a point total against tougher competition. But this is how it would currently score (not entirely accurate because their is more southern section teams than will be in real state meet).

Using the speed ratings from Rough Rider and OC Champs, this is the updated power merge. Note- The speed ratings for Rough Rider were dropped 2 points (6 seconds) from Clovis, because of the ideal weather. Looking at both results, I agree with that adjustment. Also, Vacaville replaced Hart in the top 20. Lots of teams (mainly SoCal) will be running the new Mt Sac course next week, including Beckman, ML King, Glendora, Great Oak, Crescenta Valley and Mira Costa. Westin Brown of GO is listed on the entries, but I would be surprised if they chose that course for his return to racing.

Actually, this is misleading, TullyRunners does not post reasons for why a course may speed rate differently on different days, it is just how the math works out based on all the data. But obviously the favorable weather helped improve the times across the board, which affects the SRs.
Its actually crazy that people manage to call these improvement typical... Woodbridge was probably not his best and 15:06 for the win at ROUGHRIDER is crazy. D2 is looking stacked
