Another run across America underway - is it legit? Boots currently on the ground

Because generally transcon is a very low overhead organic feat. Transcon runners generally don't travel with an entourage, RV, hotel budget, film crew, etc. No idea whether this guy's effort is authentic or "aided," but with his resources it's very not impressive when you look at how others have done it.

If you search YouTube there are plenty of homemade transcon type videos. people biking. solo. in groups. ebiking. Running.

some are actually pretty interesting and peek my interest in one day pert giving it a go. But Wills videos produce no such feelings. They give you the feel of a reality show that is supposed to be realistic but you know is fully scripted and staged with a camera crew. And they are trying to tell a story about how nucalm can do for you what it is doing for Will.

I would guess this is nearly exactly what is happening. It could be an accomplice back home or something too. I like to think they are all huddled around an ipad or something too.

Whether there is impropriety is still circumstantial and not definitive. But to your post, having 5 people tending to his every move with white glove treatment as he mostly walks 50 miles a day is not the transcon journey that resonates with purists. It’s essentially social media smoke-n-mirrors type advertising. The combo of these elements with the lack of gold-standard tracking (as there are anomalies) is why many folks aren’t fans of this.

WG just posted a screenshot to his IG story of his iPhone step count average for the last month at 98k steps per day...

Not saying this makes a huge difference as it would be easy enough to fake or photoshop... however considering his/their lack of apparent care towards accurate or credible HR data, or lack thereof, why would they go to this effort to fake something else no one is asking for?

To the average Fitbit wearer this would blow their minds bearing in mind the established scientific fact that 10000 steps a day makes you an Olympic athlete.

Last weekend I participated in a popular running race in Tennessee USA. Before the race there were four successful US crossers (myself, Laz and two others) standing around discussing transcons and such. WG was not discussed. If it weren't for being part of the JOGLE group I wouldn't have a clue about this run. I'm sure WG's run and efforts appeal to a certain base of fans / individuals and he seems to understand this well. My observation - I don't think the WG haters will be happy when all this is over.

wow, WG has just negative splitted a 105k day, with lots of climbing in the second half. He was dropping 40-60 mins a day when observed, but now is speeding up. He dropped nearly 3 hours on his Lake Como run by comparison.

His HRs were normal early, up to 139, but for the second half, pure fantasy, basically 105s.

This is getting truly wild now and the word on FB is that to correct their 64 day blunder of the British record, they're simply recalibrating to the 53 days target.

His HR down the hill at the start is higher than his HR near the end going back up... seems legit.
