OK, Lickety Split’s consolidating this thread to increase the “signal-to-noise” ratio …the “noise” being the Lets Run “unregistered posters” that demand the equivalent of a “safe space” because the truth hurtstheir feelings & BYU apologetics creating both separate “Wailing Wall” threads & personal memoirs. 1) Altitude/Mountain Teams ..... pretty much "Rocky Mountain High!"

2) AMORICA'S TEAMS: Those programs that will never win again because they don't go after foreigners & have ARE NOT at altitude, but have great academics. Old Dynastys!

3) TOKEN FOREIGNERS REQUIRED: Those programs that will win again & do give American's scholarships, but require ANZAC or "Rift Valley Express" reinforcements.

That said, here's further analysis for all you high school seniors and aspiring JUCO middle-distance & long-distance runners on Lickety's Evaluation Criteria in priority order based upon recent Cross-Country Championships.

#1 Altitude. You have to go there given the 35% statistic & that the LDS/Rift Valley Boys grew up in them thar hills. This competitive advantage significantly limits your college choices .... particularly East Coast: not even sure if Appy State hits 3K. Again, .... GEOGRAPHY MATTERS for your NCAA career. It's beyond me why New Mexico & NAU have to recruit Brits & ANZACs .... furthermore, why Colorado College, Nevada-Reno, UTEP, St Johns, etc. haven't figured this out & invested in their programs I don't know. Savvy Coaches move their teams to altitude during the pre-season & Fall semester while simultaneously having their teams study on-line or via cooperative agreement.

#2 Altitude Coaches ... if these dudes feel that they have to recruit foreigners then maybe they're really not that good of coaches after all. Or, American runners haven’t embraced altitude’s competitive advantage.

#3 Medical ... count on getting hurt wherever you are: most REGULAR Americans know that they have only 4-5 years to give it a go before graduation OR the young dudes try to hang w/the LDS & Foreign 26 year-olds & get hurt. You need a school that can take care of you when you get banged up!

#4 Team ... you're going to have a better chance at making the NCAAs on a Cross-Country team than via individual times both indoor or outdoor: particularly if you're dealing with those that train at ALTITUDE. Furthermore, don’t get wrapped up w/programs that desire to become “all-around” …. that’s code for reducing support to middle-d/long-distance scholarships or going after high-scoring individual foreigners. Ex. Cheserek & Oregon.

#5 Academics .... again, if you want to focus on academics then it's UNLIKELY you'll either be competitive for the national championships. Please see my previous note about AMORICA'S TEAMS .... they'll never win again & their best won’t be successful post-collegiate until they move to altitude. Furthermore, if you're smart enough to get into those schools you'll likely receive academic scholarships to places like NAU, Adams State, UTEP, Boise State, etc. This free’s up opportunities for other athletes that make both YOU & your TEAM better.

#6 Facilities .... the most OVERRATED criteria that folks like AMORICA's TEAMS will try to promote. Great locker-rooms, WIFI everywhere, stupid BS like that which has nothing to do w/making you faster.

- No, Mantz wouldn't be better .... I don't buy that the BYU athletes don't maintain training during their mission year.

They go for two years, not one. Most don't run at all. I went and ran maybe a couple of times in two years. I did walk up and down a million flights of stars and usually rode a bike to our work areas a couple miles/day but that was it Read up on Henry Marsh's career. He came back 20-lbs or so overweight! Mants beat McDonald in high school and might be as good as him if he hand't taken two years off. Baxter is 24 I believe on NAUs team. Going on missions doesn't give a running advantage. If so, then go do some service yourself for some group and come back stronger!

Licketry raises many legitimate concerns and he provides solutions. People can agree or disagree but most I have read on this thread just bash him.

I strongly feel age manipulation is a deterrent to longer term development of athletes in the normal age span of college due to them having to over train in high school and in college just to make it. Critical athletic development and maturation periods are speed up to reach or get over a bar that is set so high from much older athletes and the constant plucking of international standouts that it is no wonder so many of the younger athletes become injured and or burnt out. The NCAA is the real problem and until they change there will be more and more of the same exploitation.

DEAR LICKETY,

I am a runner who is just outside of Trump Team All American.

I am wondering if I would be all-american if we also removed the children of immigrants. I believe this is justified- immigrants have essentially taken advantage of our country over the last 10 years, and their children undoubtedly benefit from their genetics and extremely diligent work ethic.

American children are coddled, and don't receive the liberal bias and handouts that boost the performance of immigrants, causing them to under-perform.

In addition, I am extremely skeptical of the citizenship of the Hispanic all-Americans. We should definitely remove DACA recipients.

#3 Indeed, what happened to the foreign dominated teams like Bama, Eastern Kentucky?

#4 "Side-by-Sides" between pre-season & final XC results only beg the following Lickety analysis:

* What in the hell has happened to the well-funded SEC? Ole Miss w/a 17th place?

* What were the meet scheduling amongst those that did well versus not well? Indeed, What are the trends toward a team path to a NCAA XC championship? Did teams like CU gaff their Conference Championships?

* Why I'm so glad the Bama XC program failed to inplement their WCAP strategy?

#5 Morgan Mcdonald .... now way Lickety let's Morgan Mcdonald get away w/"...it is kind of a bit like America versus the rest and I guess the rest came out on top again." No doubt, Lickety to have plenty to say about what America's done for the Badger Irish-led coaching staff & for Australia athletics. UNGRATEFUL!

Nee more track clubs based near the colleges. Post grads get to use the facilities while

giving the college some publicity. Example: Florida Track Club/ Univ of Florida

and Oregon Track Club/ Oregon University.
