I wouldn't be surprised if some just take what they're given without even knowing what they're taking.

So I read that Kiprop has supposedly tested positive for EPO in an out of competition test at the end of the year. Not being an expert on how to actually dope, I"ll admit the first question that popped into my head was, "Why would someone be on EPO at the end of the year? Not knowning the ins and outs of how to dope, that makes little sense to me"
Wouldn't one want only to be on it in season as the risk to lower the chances of getting caught?
Or do you need to be on it all the time to try to trick the biological passport?
Or do you need to be on it for a long time to get the training benefit? Like do you need to do a whole training cycle on EPO to really gain or can you just do your normal training and cycle on EPO before the competitions?
Well, I think I can be quite close to guess why he did it. When he agreed to be coached by COACH J.S in 2016 for his
winter buildup , they agreed to start 1 November (when the 1 November came Kiprop changed his mind and told he wanted to keep on with his old usual program). So the beginning of November seem to be usual start for Kiprops buildup for coming season. What I know about the effects of EPO it helps mostly for the long distances and Kiprop communicated he was going for 5000m that coming season 2018. So my guess is that he took it just for that reason and thought it was almost no
chance to be caught in off season. But it`s quite naive to think he was alone in this decision. If he did it, there is some more questions to get an answer. Who helped him to inject EPO? He did it alone? That I can hardly believe.
