The Takumi Sens have always felt a bit soft to me (even with a brand new pair). The Sub2s have a much firmer feel (at least in the first few kilometres, I haven't been able to log much mileage in them yet).

$180???!!!!. How's the saying go.. a fool and his money?
Did my first workout in them today. 16 x 200 in 35 down to 33 with last in 28.9 for fun. They felt much easier to run in than the Adios at those paces. I'm a huge fan of racing in the Takumi Sens but can't wear them for over 10k because they beat my calves up a bit too much. I'll wear the Sub2 this weekend for an 8k and report back!

It’s just money. What’s a PR worth to you?
To me, so much that $180 is nothing.
No one can ever take it away from you.

No one can ever take it away from you .... except for posters on LetsRun! They can take your precious PR and make you feel like a mere hobbyjogger! ;)
I would love to try the Sub2 but the price is ridiculous. Hell, I even got a price alert from RunningWarehouse that the Zoom Fly was on clearance at $109, but even with the FB15D discount (bringing it down to $95) I thought it was too much for a pair of running shoes.
I don’t wanna pay more than $75 for a pair ... am I cheap?

I thought the saying went "You get what you pay for"? Could be wrong though.
And I agree with the comment above. I run 80+ miles a week, some at 4am, all for a PR. So in a fair comparison, $180 to help lower that PR is nothing at all.

Yeah youre cheap. I am guessing you put in serious miles and time into your running. Time is always worth more than money...especially when its the time on the clock at the finish line.
Mine came yesterday. They're awesome. They weigh nothing, have great traction, and just enough protection to keep you going mile after mile. Night and day from the Vaporfly. Have both. Will be reaching for these anything 13.1 and under. Anything over and ... comfort wins out.
I feel like i get more pop out of the heel in these than I do in the Takumi Sen or Adios. Feels about half a size smaller than other running shoes I wear, though, so I am a bit worried about my foot cramping up if I wear them for a marathon. Took a mile to settle in but I like the ride.
[Comments: Test run for 4.3 miles and it was an extraordinary experience. I am over 56 year old, with 5 feet 6 height and 113 pounds. I run 3:03:47 on Baystate Marathon last Oct. and am preparing for Boston. My weekly mileage is about 80-100. My biggest problem is my heel pain, which usually occurred between 0.5-2 mile after I start a run. Therefore, I tended to wear high drop shoes with a lot of cushion. Recently I even inserted additional heel cup. I know this is a low drop shoe and was hesitant to put it on without a heel cup. But the temptation for this sub-2 was just too big. So I run without any heel cup. To my surprise, my heel felt better! The shoes are so comfortable and you feel it immediately once you put your feet in. I carefully compared it with my brand new Adizero Takumi sen. It is lighter, and softer. I felt my feet are better protected. I don't feel I need another 13 miles test run and want to keep it fresh for my Boston. I hope I can break 3 this time

Well they're designed for sub 2 but the runners are clearly the hobbiest of hobby joggers.
I took them for their first run last night. I did 2k +8x1k, ended up with 14.4 miles total. I love them. Good traction, good cushioning and more of it from heel to toe, although a touch stiffer Boost material than the Tempo 9, Adios or Boston. They seem to have a wider platform than the other 3 hoes I just mentioned, as well as a wider toe box, too. No hotspots, and they seem to lock down onto the foot very well.
I am going to take them on my 21 mile progression this weekend to be safe, but I am pretty sure I will use them for my spring marathon over the Adios.

Most flats start out for the elites and then trickle down....kinda like this thing called "technology".
Clearly a lightweight flat with great cushioning should NEVER be considered by rec runners, or even the sub elites. Only for elites like Kipchoge and yourself.....Your'e awesome! Like, really awesome.

Do they fit smaller than the Takumi Sen? The Sen seems very true-to-size for me and is my go-to shoe for racing 10 mi and less similar to what a few others have said. I'd consider the Sub2 if they offer anything more than the Sen.
Thanks!
How does this compare to the Boston 6?

I usually wear an 11 in the Energy Boost and Tempo 9 w/Boost material.
I wear a 10.5 in the Adios, Boston, and Sub2. I hope this helps....

Similar fit but the sub2 has a slightly wider platform and wider toebox. It laso has way more cushioning under the forefoot, although the Boost light material is slightly firmer than standard Boost Material.

How would you say they are different than the Vaporfly (besides the obvious difference in cushioning)?

I've always worn 41 1/3 for Adidas shoes, including the Takumi Sens and Sub2s. They size exactly the same in my opinion.

How did it go?
I've been able to put in a decently fast training run at last. I can't really draw conclusions because I'm back from an injury (I don't know if it was fast-ish because I'm rested or because of the shoes).
I'm used to zero-drop shoes and I felt like I was pushed forward and almost stumbled in the beginning. My heels hurt the next day, like after a run twice that long in Takumi Sens. I guess this is also due to the high heel.
Next up: trying the same run with a chunk of the sole cut out. By the way, that blown TPU weighs next to nothing. I have removed what felt like a lot and that accounted for only four grams.
I took them out for a 22 miler today. They felt great, perhaps more comfortable than the Adios, and I will wear them in Boston.
