Galen Rupp Comes Up Short for USATF Title #9 - Then Blows Off The Media

GTFO. I'm on the inside and there are not "those stories about Meb". You're just trying to deflect. People on here are being to harsh with Galen, but that doesn't mean you should make stuff up about other athletes.

I love that Rupp blew past the press area. He didn't race to finish 5th and have some gracious politically correct response about trying his best. He was hungry and came to win number 9 and was in it to win it til the end. It took 5 African Americans speaking Swahili to each other to beat him!

Just proves what an awesome competitor he is. That fires me up seeing him angry about the race!

With the finishing time, did he really run his ass off for 30 minutes, or did he jog for 27 minutes and sprint for 2?

Galen is probably really mad at himself for his race tactics. He should be. It is foolish for him to expect to win, now that he has fully transitioned to the marathon. His strength is now endurance. The stronger runner can go out hard are fade less than others. Had he used his strength, he would undoubtedly be on the world team. He could have used one of the many opportunities that Chelenga provided to push the pace.

I see this more as an internal struggle for Rupp rather than Rupp not being able to deal with the outside world. Rupp is the best US 10k runner of all time by a lot. But what always kept him from winning at Diamond League meets, WCs or the Olympics was the last 200m. Whenever there was a hard all out sprint coming off the back stretch, Rupp was never able to open it up the way Mo and the other to track guys could. His potentially last track 10k played the same way so many others have. Nothing in his legs to answer the last big sprint to the finish. For all the high points in his career, I think his problem with his finishing kick has really haunted him. Last night pretty much confirmed for Rupp that he will never again have that one last chance to redeem himself on the track with a big sprint finish.

The figure skating kid should have simply ran smarter and faster than his competitors. But the whiny ears lost.

I think it's a fairly known not so secret that many players use PEDs. LeBron's freakish build, strength, speed, rapid aging appearance and balding all look suspect to me. Maybe he's clean but I sure as hell would not bet money on it.

I don't have an opinion one way or another about Lebron and PEDs. However, claiming that since Lebron looks old, he must be juiced, doesn't seem like a valid argument. I remember when he started in the NBA at 18 or 19 years old. Even then, he looked at least 30.

The same thing goes for many of the east Africans that many on these boards claim are age cheating. Some guys just look 30, even when they aren't. Go to a college campus. In the freshman class you will see guys that look 35, and other guys that look 15. Yet they are all 18 or 19.

Bottom line, you can't make accurate age predictions (or PED accusations related to aging) just by appearance.

Sure but what about him being nearly 33 and 6'8" 270 lbs and can run that fast and jump out of the gym. Not even a little suspicious?

Not every one with an enormous head and huge arms are on the sauce either like Barry Bonds but sometimes it correlates.

Did you guys know that every American athlete is under USADA investigation. Its true, just saying hi to Lance makes athletes guilty. And Rupp is rich, he will stay rich until death. Me I'm just a pissed off runner who never made it!!

Double standard? Rupp is slower than sh*t, and I haven't diverted from this.

His marathon PR is closer to the women's world record than the men's world record.

He finished 1:26 behind Kip in the Olympic marathon, and 1:25 in front of Jared Ward. Jared. Ward.

The world's best were running faster marathon times than his PR in the 1960s.

He hasn't run faster than 17 other Americans, and 20+ performances by those 17. A few of those faster-than-Rupp times came in the 1970s. It is 2017.

I wouldn't call him a marathoner at this point in history. Others are doing that. He's certainly not a 10K runner any more. Winning US Nationals that many times in a row? One or two of them might have been impressive. Others, though, might as well be track and field day at the elementary school. This is the US, after all.

I find it pathetic that the Blojos+ fan this fire by choosing the most unflattering pictures of him and portraying him in the worst light. Why don't they do it to Jordan or Centro? They don't do it to them because they don't want to attack the popular athletes. They do it to Galen because he is a easy target to bully. Look at pictures of the Blojos online.
