Really? So it can only be one sided? Why don't you look at the bios of Levins and Farah prior to joining NOP/Rupp and then compare it to the marks/accolades after joining. Look at things like, national titles, international medals, PB's, NR's. It's clear they made dramatic jumps once on board with Rupp/NOP. No one is denying that Rupp hasn't benefitted, why else would he want them around?

Rupp needs to payback the hired help. If he refuses to be the pacesetter-wind-breaker for Farah or Levins, then Rupp fans have no reason to think those guys should sacrifice themselves for Rupp.

Venty, I enjoy reading your posts, but are you sticking with this as his "current" ability? I think it would be great just to see a sub-7:30 and sub-12:55.

I don't think Rupp will ever break 7:30, or get a 2nd sub 13. He will run times in the low 7:30s and 13s for a few more years.

Rupp will take on the marathon in a year or so. How he will do is a mystery because of his asthma and pollen issues.

if he regains focus, he needs

- luck of a non-windy non-cold meet

- circumstances like eugene where no pesky non-help africans who's only aim is to mess the race about & wait for last lap kick

- get sumboo to pace him in a 3 or 5k like in eugene 10k

in the ole days, a perfect place for such an effort was koln where promoter woud set up a fast race specifically for 1 elite guy

unfortunately, koln is history & there are now too many damn africans of good quality entered in every race in every meet & all intent in messing races about rather than chase clock

i think he needs to go to those belgium meets where webb ran his 800/mile pbs & get nike to pay for the set-up & kick out any waste of time africans uninterested in times

Ha ha, you lose again, poltroonous lurker. Not Rupp-certified as I said.

He was doing ok for 12:59 until whoops, he found himself in the lead. The awesome field gave him a taste of his own damn medicine and schooled him good. He couldn't even close in sub-64.

Why did this happen, because he has absolutely no head for strategy. By going with the rabbits he committed to pace and burned out his kick. It was not going to come back just because of a few 64's. By trying to revert to sit and kick he set himself up for humiliation.

To run fast, Rupp has to either solo time trial indoors or be in a fast race where someone else does all the work.

But I agree that Edris, Longosiwa and Ndiku are awesome. You can take solace in being right about that.

Oh, please, you have been asked politely why you have been so far off the mark about Rupp's 5000m ability, how you have said he could run 12:40ish and he can barely run 13 flat, and all you can offer is that he "he's not been same runner since his twins were born." What kind of a joke is this? His twins weren't born that long ago and his 5000m credentials, such as they are, are long established. The twins are a recent addition and there is not enough data to make definitive statements regarding their impact on his running. You need to acknowledge when you are out of touch with reality...

Remember, we are just talking about maximizing 5000M times. That is totally different than 5000M racing where you basically have to finish in 53 seconds.

Rupp's speed is the bigger issue. At 28 I highly doubt he can getting any faster. Since 2012 has he run a lap faster than 54 seconds? I can't recall that he has.

Jesse made a long list of predictions of what Rupp would never do, such as break 13, break 27, win an Olympic medal, etc, etc, etc. That Rupp may have finally reached his ceiling doesn't make Jesse any type of expert.

ummm, fool, break 13 while losing, breaking 27 the first time while lose, and win an Olympic medal while losing. What do these three loses have to be with Rupp ceiling? Hint: Rupp's 10k PR was set by purchasing a workhorse (Sambu) for the run.

This is why Galen Rupp bothers me, although maybe Salazar talks him into this stuff. He has ZERO chance at running 8:10 and it is obvious to the intelligent. He will be fortunate to run 8:15 if everything falls into place. He has absolutely no chance at running faster than 8:15. I will NEVER post here again if Rupp runs faster than 8:15 this weekend.
