I guess that Cliff Clavin is right about Galen Rupp's 5000m ceiling. He is now 28 years old and he has had many cracks at the 5000m, and he has indeed brushed up against a ceiling right around 13 minutes, just as Cliff said he would. He has broken 13 minutes one time. He does a good job at 10,000m though.

I think Cliff said Rupp's ceiling was 12:55. That is when others said 12:50 or 12:45, so Cliff was correct, but I disagree with the poster who said Kennedy was better than Rupp, although at 5000m maybe he was.
He should cut the crap and just go but a jogging stroller for two. Stick a fork in him...with two kids id say he's gone soft

Rupp's jogging stroller will be heavily weighed down. Not only is it going to be a double-wide, the amount of kid stuff that has to be carried along will make for an impressive load to push along.

geb has at least 5 kids he did okay, besides zurich on august 28th what other 5000 on the track is there (i heard the stockholm 5000 on august 21st MIGHT be switched to a 3000.
wouldnt it be cool if rupp set the american 3000 in stockhom on august 21st, the AR for 5000 in zurich on august 28th, breaks his own AR for 10000 in brussells on september 5th, then get the american record for the half marathon in philadelphia on september 14th.
if he wins the 10000 in brussells that would GUARANTEE him the #1 world ranking in the 10000 the last american number 1 at 10000 was bruce bickford.

If he could go faster, he'd be trying this year, because the next three years he'll be racing and have too many excuses to make a serious effort.
And he's not trying this year. The only Rupp-certified time trial for him was DL Eugene, he has no other chances.
