Rupp had to run 4:01 for that last mile to go for sub 13, and that speed can certainly be enough to kill the pop, as they picked it up pretty aggressively as the pacer dropped out.

Maybe not a clear distinction, but in my mind the distinction is that college is a much less defined period with a much broader age range, is completely voluntary, and is something you pay to do. High school is a part of the free education system, is something almost everyone does, and is a much more defined range of ages. While the NFHS records are viewed as some as "official" some of the requirements to set a record are just silly. I was hoping T&FN, who many others turn to as the source of records would list any applicable times by Cain this year as high school records.

Rupp's second fastest time of all time. Fastest is only 3 seconds faster in a 3rd place finish in Eugene. 2014 is the year of the AR?

Don't know unless that is misleading from it being an off distance but it appears in line with her 500 and 800m PRs. She is better over 400m.

I tend to agree. The only exception perhaps being his PB set at Prefontain when there was some swirling wind.

Yeah good point. I don't know, I can't fathom Rupp running much faster than this this early. It's only 3 seconds off his PR which was in a very competitive race! You could be right though, in which case the next two races will be incredible.

How did a 14:59.35 guy get into a record attempt race?

REALLY glad I spent that 20 dollars.

American Junior Record. Old record 2:40.1 set by Diana Richburg 7 Dec 1982. Time of 2:39.25 for 1k is roughly in line with what MC was running last winter for 1500.

Uceny was penciled in for this. It would have made a more interesting race.

I think this is a pretty compelling argument on where Fawn Dorr stands sexuality-wise.

Fully agree. College is much less defined and even then the NCAA doesn't keep a record list so its up to whoever wants to to keep a list and how they want to quantify it. For me personally Mary Cain deserves all records she breaks until she graduates HS.
