I run for a local store's team and they get lots of Nike gear in Volt (the lime/yellow color that Nike puts on everything right now and that was on all their spikes in London). Back in September I was running a tempo near the store with a teammate and one of Atlanta's many vagrants yells out, "Hey! That's two of them brothers from the Olympics!"
I was told the same thing numerous times by a coach and few collegiate and foreign 800m runners I trained with (1:46 to 1:48 type athletes) that I should be running 1:43-1:44 by my training in only my 2nd year in the event!
Those were inspiring comments but I didn't see what they saw in just 2 years in 800m
from some HS kids: "JESUS JESUS JESUS"

Woman yelled "come over tonight for some steak" a couple of days ago.
My best comments always come when I'm joggling. Last summer I was joggling through a park. A group of kids started yelling, "Look, it's the juggling runner. He's got muscles!"
EAT THIS! as the car passing me tossed a milkshake in my face.
On a run on a pleasant spring day--still tshirt weather.
Running towards a middle-aged black lady.
"Show me them abs, honey!"
[I lift up my shirt as I pass her]
"Mmmmmhmm!!"
I've gotten the "naked" comment from many children as well. It's pretty funny- apparently shorts are the new naked for this surprisingly pruder generation.
The best thing I ever remember anyone saying to me on a run happened on Christmas Eve or night in the small town I lived in at the time. It was close to midnight and drizzling out; cold but not freezing. Up until the point it is below 30 degrees I usually feel comfortable running in shorts and no shirt, so long as I have my hands and ears covered. So for whatever reason I head out on a midnight run, and pass through the small downtown area on the way. Outside of a bar two guys are standing around smoking cigarettes, probably drunk as well. As I approach, one says "hey, here comes Rambo!". The other starts singing the Rocky theme song. This was pleasant and amusing. But the best part happened after I passed. One said something to the other, not meaning for me to hear: "that mother f$#ker's on crack-cocaine!". I really enjoyed that. It was only through luck being in the right spot that the sound bounced off the wall just right so I could here it, because it wasn't said loud. I'll never forget that.
I was running on a sidewalk in State College, PA when a car full of fat girls pulled up next to me and started singing, "Sexy Can I?"
I was doing a long run a few months ago along the coast highway in North San Diego, and I was wearing these red and white pinstriped split shorts. As we run by this grimy surfer turns to his buddy and says, "Hey dude, I finally found Waldo." My friend I was running with started busting up laughing.
From a young African-American gentleman, with basically any stereotypical ghetto accoutrement of which you can conceive:
"Daaaaamn, girl, you got some good-looking legs there."
I am a white guy.
Though I do think I have nice legs.
"You can move, God bless that."
I live in DC, and filthy wasteland that it is, I encounter homeless men on most runs. I honestly couldn't ask for better spectators! They mostly say things like "Pick it up" or "Get on the pace" (whatever that means?) or "Lookin' good!" It's pretty much always encouraging stuff. One guy said, "You better pick it up or they'll catch you in the big race." This guy could be my coach!
a group of us were doing a warm down and we passed this homeless guy who looked like he'd just run a tough mudder. He shouts to one of the girls near the front have my babies which made us laugh, then he shouts to one of the guys at the back of the group have my rabies which made us laugh even more.
Black ladies drive by while running in Detroit and yell "fresh white meat!".
Was running fairly late one night when a car full of teenagers drove up along side me and began to yell the usuals: "what's up queer", "Hey fa***t", "Nice shorts, homo". Anyways, I did the only thing I could think of and whipped out my penis from one of my short shorts pant legs and said calmly "who's queer now?" Needless to say they didn't really have a response and just kind of drove away a little bit stunned and speechless. I am still waiting for the next group of hecklers so I can repeat this scenario. It's been almost a year since anybody has called me gay though. O well :-(
This happened was about a week after the 2012 Olympics. While running down a busy street in Brooklyn, an African American man sees me and yells out, "Damn, this n*gg*r is going to Rio!"
-I am very, very white. I also have virtually no shot of competing in a running event in the 2016 Olympics.

Yes, I've gotten that too. Puzzling. The first time I actually looked down to make sure my shorts were still there.
I was 18 or 19 at the time running a tempo in residential Newburgh, NY, predominantly black neighborhood, and ran past a house where a couple middle-aged to older black men were cooking out on a grill. As I ran by, one of the black men called out "Little Child, Running Wild", the opening lyrics and title of a Curtis Mayfield song. Some of them were laughing. I called back "Watch a while, see he never smiles.", which is the next two lines of the song. I think that about knocked them out and expectedly so because I look almost Aryan. The whole porch started laughing and clapping. I had to run by again, and they called out "Yo, Curtis."
