I think Merritt is a great 400m runner, all doping and joking aside.

I was a bit disappointed at his performance in Daegu, I don't think he ran a good race.

I'm looking forward to next year in the 400m. An improved James, maybe a healthy Wariner, and a resurgent Merritt. It will hopefully be like the good-old-Wariner-v-Merritt days, with James thrown in to make them both try even harder.

I think it will be a battle for gold, and I could see Merritt winning in 2012.

No drug analysis clearly not your area is it.

There are too many variables time taken before test, food eaten and time, different rate of absorption.

DHEA is regularly used by body builders, maybe he took in Extenze deliberately knowing what ingredients it contained. Who know the only thing we know for certain is he failed a dope test

in gatlin's case for testosterone +ve, the analysis of the lab identified his source definitively as coming from a testo gel product ONLY & NOT tablet or parentral administration of testosterone using a "fingerprint" method

it is not a difficult job identifying source of drug if profiles of various ones are kept on the reference data base

if they did or did not bother to look for source in lashawn's case ( they may have not bothered as he admitted DHEA presence in his system ), the scientific ability to identify is known & commonly used science

To be clear, Merritt did not take a steroid or epo!

Whether you believe Merritt knowingly or unknowingly took a performance enhancer, what's the purpose of having a penalty, have someone serve the penalty, yet people want allow you to move on. If you suggest we have a life time ban for any and all doping violations, that would eliminate over half of the star athletes in all sports. You have to allow for the fact that athletes like people are not perfect. There are situations were an athlete should be banned for life, but the penalty has to be measured and so what Merritt took, I think the penalty under the circumstances was sufficient.

There has to be a point where we say, you made a mistake, you paid a price for it, hopefully you learned your lesson and let's move on. What's so crazy about that?

I'm a huge LaShawn Merritt fan who used to post here. I just wanted to say I'm glad he's still around. He's the only one giving the US a shot in the 400m, which we used to own as an event. What happened to the US dominance in the 400m? Outside of Merritt, no American has a chance to medal. This guy sure had better longevity than Wariner.
