the 5k is a tough race, but you do "toe the red line" with the best of them!

I'll ignore the barb and answer the question anyway--

Not sure what I'm doing. I like the 1500, I'm curious about the 5k, and the steeple (since I dropped out of my only attempt) is still a mystery.

Considering I ran 25.8 for an open 200 indoors, I fail to see how the observation that I don't have a lot of foot speed is invalid.

Now, if you'll all excuse me, I'm going off to smugly finish some reading before a conceited breakfast where I complain about how no one appreciates my greatness to the bored teammates who will surely come here to reveal my snottiness to the world. Oh, and I'm also going to kick a puppy or two on the way there, if I don't get too tired walking to the dining hall and decide to drop out like the coward I am.

PS: My HS XC coach was a great admirer of Joe Newton-- thus, he dubbed OUR xc team "the long red line." I have now learned a valuable lesson about posting in-jokes on the internet. In retrospect, yes, that was a dumb move on my part.

i was a mid-to-low-tier runner on a good d1 team, and my PRs from 1500 through 10k would have gotten me into d3 nats.

the problem is not at all that d3 runners are slower (they are), it's that they don't acknowledge that and think d3 nationals is a big deal. It's nice and all, but there are only a handful of very good athletes there.

posts like yours are why the whole baby nationals thing began. quit your crying.

Kaul will be racing the 10,000 this weekend at the Wheaton Twilight meet. The 5k and Steeple should be hot at this meet with North Central, Calvin, and UW-Oshkosh guys.

You're right. We're all amazed at 14:40 performances. All DIII "athletes" are slow and cannot fathom running under 15 minutes. While we are on the topic of flaws, why dont we bring up your use of the English language.

There should be some good times that come out of the Cortland Classic this weekend.
