Besides.. mr xeno has it figured out...Webb is and for sure will become the greatest american distance runner ever. if he wanted to he would hold every american record 1500m thru 10k and possibly marathon. time will tell.

I regret to inform all of you track geeks that Rupp has hit his peak. He won't improve much from now, if at all. I don't care about his 40/30 workout; what matters is races, not workouts, and Rupp's times have not improved substantially in the last 2 years. He's the classic example of somebody who's trained at an elite level since high school, and has now topped out. He ran 13:37 in high school and he has subsequently not broken 13:30. I won't be surprised if Rupp retires in the next few years. He'll spend the rest of his days cursing Alberto Salazar for burning him out.
As for Bauhs, we haven't yet seen his full potential. He's never trained at Rupp's level, nor benefited from elite coaching. I think it's likely that he'll post faster marks than Rupp by the time he's done.
But all of this talk about Rupp and Bauhs is irrelevant. What really matters is Alan Webb. Alan Webb will run 5K and 10K faster than Rupp or Bauhs. Alan Webb will also run a 2:04 marathon in 2016 and will win marathon gold at the 2016 Olympic Games. Neither Rupp nor Bauhs will touch 2:08 in the marathon.
Alan Webb is the future! 1500 Gold 2012 baby! Marathon Gold 2016 baby!
Alan Webb > Rupp + Bauhs
