found some trails and ran for 80-90 minutes with a bad sinus infection.
felt good after awhile and couldn't help wonder why someone like me got to enjoy such a nice day when someone with talent was taken years before this time. but once i felt myself breathing a little easier, i wanted to think his spirit was with any of us out there pounding it out...

I thought of Ryan Shay today during my race. I can say without exaggeration that it helped me stay strong during that second mile when it started to get real tough.

Longest and Fastest run of my life and a few tears after for Shay.
7.5 miles, second run in the week after my first marathon. Didn't feel too good, but I gutted it out for Ryan.
I ran for 8.46 miles guts out.... he was pronounced dead at 8:46....
9 miles. Just getting into the swing of things after a few weeks off due to sickness. Thought about the quickness life can be taken away over the course of the run. RIP.
Still recovering from first marathon 4 weeks ago. I've only run 7-8 times with every run between 20-30 minutes.
I recently gotten sick as well. However, today, I ran 40 minutes hard the whole way.

I hadn't read this until just now, but I headed out for my first long run in many months this morning for this very reason.
A sad, but helpful, reminder that you never know which run/day will be your last; so you've got to make each one count.

Ran a 15k off a couple 30 mile weeks after a long break due to an injury. Can't deny that everyone in the race had some thought of him in there head wondering how a thing like that could happen.
26.2 in NYC today. New PR, first time under 2:40. Sure as f*ck wasn't going to quit today.

I'm old and battling my own health issues, so I couldn't go out and hammer one. Instead I went out for an easy run with my daughters and appreciated the simple gift of being out, being healthy, and talking alone with them in a whole new way.
Haven't been running much after a move, out of shape, so I did a small, satisfying run of 34 minutes with Ryan in my thoughts.
Broke 3 hours in my first marathon in Columbus. I have been in recovery mode and haven't really felt like running since the race but decided today to do a bit of a longer run. Was going to go 10, but ended up going 15 with negative splits in honor of the Workhorse.
