Shut the fukc up you pompous prick. They don't have to answer to you, you are not their boss.

The truth actually is that these people are receiving a pitance. There is a case for giving athletes more, not less. There are many, many worse things that my taxes goes towards so I can't get too worked up about the occasional athletes underperforming.
I wont except "underperforming"
are u sure about that

I may be a pompous prick but hey, I'm not a rude ignorant pompous prick.Getting a bit tetchy though aren't we?
I have every right to ask for information about publicly funded under performing athletes in the same way that you have every right to call people names without any sensible statements to cover it. I know that I am not their boss but nowhere does it state that I have to be to ask for an explanation.

I'm not sure about a pittance but I can't disagree with your sentiments. Since this is a running message board it seems a decent place for the questions to be asked and seriously it would be good to know the possible reasons so others might avoid them in the future.
getting support is not enough, I WANT A UK PASSPORT as well
Well I think you are going to have to wait until after the World Championships before you get an explanation. In the meantime, let them get on with it as best they can.
Agreed. It would just be worthwhile having the debate especially as 2 out of the 3 (IMHO) should be at the worlds instead of sitting at home knitting.

the UK director of distance running is often criticised for his poor performance with new talent he is trying to nurture to success. Any ideas about his type of training methods/schedules he is adopting for these new elite distance runners in uk? Whats he putting them through typically?
Becky Lyne has pulled out of the World Champs!

I'm no expert but I don't think that the performance director coaches many athletes on a day to day basis, that is left to the athlete's own coach.
sorry omitted to add his name - Alan Storey.
He is involved with working with coaches and their charges in order to improve results and produce a winning team.- just wondered what his tactics were if anyone knows?
Heard he is extra tough and stands no nonsense.
I'd hazard a guess there's no 'typical' approach - the endurance 'elite' coming under UKA's World class programme range from teenagers who are 400/800 types to marathoners in their mid 30s.
Stop it with all the bloody doom and gloom for gods sake. 2006 was one of the best years for men’s 800m in a while, yeah it was nowhere near as good as the 'glory days' but its an improvement, this year has been ok so far. We have several young runners like Osagie and James Brewer who are running 1.47 at 18.Not to mention people like Rimmer etc. Personally I competed at the AAA's- the weather was crap-it might not have looked like it on TV or from the stands but it was blowing an absolute gale out on the track. we were put in a pen for 30 mins without being able to leave to do strides it gets on my nerves to hear people complaining when athletes like myself train hard day in day out. Baddley won the 1500m easy but surely experienced athletics fans like yourselves should surely understand that 1500m are always pretty slow at championships - especially in crap conditions like at sports city. Obviously we haven’t got the strength and depth that we used to but why cant people see the rising young talent rather than moaning. Girls running 2.00 isn't anything more special than what guys are doing- on the world stage its probably the equivalent of running 1.47 so if your going to complain about the men reconsider celebrating Mediocrity in the women’s 800m
I reckon in the next few years Rimmer and Baddely will be established ‘big dogs’ running 1.43/44 and 3.31 and we will have a few more 1.45 and 3.36 guys coming through .
