Falcon three consecutive trips in major races was probably the strangest thing I have ever seem in track and field. I remember him just constantly tripping in major races. I also remember Tim Hacker literally doing a flip on the track.
You are right it is like the Red Sox curse. It may have nothing to do with either character or talent. It is just a strangest case of bad luck that is nearly a century old!!
On paper US milers look pretty decent.
When Nick Symmonds runs under 3:35 we can talk about him saving US 1500 meter running. For now we have to rely on Webb, Lagat, and Lukezic. Didn't Lukezic make the WC indoor finals last year? Webb will most likely finish the 2007 indoor season with the third fastest time in the world 3:55.6. He had one bad race that is all. As I said before because of his size he is at a disadvantage on a small indoor track. The reason he sometimes does well in cross-country races is because they are relatively straight coarses. I still believe Webb is going to run either a 3:46 or 3:47 outdoor mile by 2010. In the mean-time there is going to be a lot of ups and downs.
