ok, so this was run on 28 AUG, correct? If so, I would think he’s looking very good for Tokyo. 2.5 weeks to sharpen off that seems plenty.
However, I wasn’t clear from the recent NRK reports whether he’s had more setbacks since then. Can anyone clarify?
He looks relaxed and lean, but his stride was a little off his best IMO.
Well noted!! We both know better isn’t it? If Jakob had been good we would have noticed it and be honest about it. As running fans we have to speak true words to the sport, we have to be responsible. If we lied and sugar coated and said Jakob’s technique is nothing like we have ever seen before that’s so good it’s the sport and the truth that suffers!!
Jakob is very lethargic this summer, he is basically just putting on a brave front with all those silly jokes, I can see through them, the turmoil and the doubt sigh 😔.
Please Henrik and Filip, spare your little brother. Let him be a father for just one summer autumn.
I don’t understand people trying to read so much into this workout. While the splits are fast (to us mortals) this is a threshold workout done as a bridge between hard sessions. It’s a fun video and he seems to be in solid shape, but the splits don’t really tell us anything about his race readiness.
YOU are speculating. As someone who knows much more about this than you do, I can tell you that you are not an “objective” observer and that you consistently overrate Jakob. You seem to think that Jakob has 26:30 ability, despite the fact that he has never shown this, not once. 26:30 runners do not fall apart at 27:27 pace. Jakob was exposed in that half marathon. He didn’t belong with the big boys, and he is battling injury problems. You cherry pick data that suits your narrative, as I just did when I mentioned his half marathon, but you don’t even seem to know you are doing it.
Objectiveobserver is an expert in CIA and department of war matters. He has shown promise to acquire weapons of directed energy war. He can rattle off the ABCs of spike protein causing heart attacks and cell towers microwaving innocent citizens, but when it comes to Jakob he frequently talks pass himself.
27:27 should be cakewalk for a 26:30 guy. It's run on straight roads with no circular cicrumnavigation. He clearly has favoritism for Jakob.
I won't pretend to know what Jakob could actually run for 10k on the track, but basing your entire assessment on that half marathon is incredibly dumb.
Have you run track competitively? Do you remember what your body feels like after running a season of middle distance races?
I was certainly a slouch compared to Jakob (3:44 1500, no track 10K but 31 mins on XC courses), but if I went out and tried to go through 10k in a half marathon in 32:XX at the end of track season, I'd be crashing as well.

I mostly agree, however...
Were you aware that the 1500 m was your best event, or did you go around telling everybody who would listen that the half marathon was ACTUALLY your best event and the event your training was most suited for?

' caaause..... that's what Jacob did. 🤷
Except he didn’t. You have a very low level reading comprehension if that was your takeaway from his interview

Correct, he actually said he wasn't in shape for the WR and hadn't done the training for it PRIOR to his attempt.
