People on LR have been commenting some variation of this for like 2 years now after each solid performance out of him. When are yall gonna start paying attention? He was never done.
I thought Nuguse and Hoey would be top two with Drew Hunter in 3rd.
Way off on Hoey. Guess he is a 800m guy.
Hobbs will bounce back from this subpar season
I think Hoey is just gassed from a long season. He’s definitely better at the 800, but with a 3:29 1500 we can’t call him “just” and 800 guy. He may also be a bit of an indoor specialist, he was unbeatable this indoor season, and even all the way back to high school his 1:47 PB was an indoor mark
Don't think he backed up that 3:29 with any other world class performances in the 1500m/mile this year. I thought he would do it yesterday

5th in Silesia was a solid result. He beat a lot of good guys, but yeah he was going backwards a bit in the last 50. He ran great at 5th Ave last year.

Strand, Wolfe and Hocker all have good gear shift kicks.
I’ve always thought being shorter gives people a better change of gears - easier to accelerate. Hocker is only 5’10” (short for a 1500 runner) and Wolfe is probably 5’6”
I’m still bewildered how 5/10 Karissa Schweizer tied miler Laura Muir’s course record last year. Muir was in a fetal position on the pavement after her race; not so for Schweizer.
IKR. It wasn't like she won a weak field. She beat Muir and every one of Simpsons records.
Dude needs to call it a season. Rest up until indoor and then chase those 800/1000 records.
He peaked too hard during indoors and it cost him
who peaked in indoors...Hoey and Goose. Who didn't in summer...same. This seems training 101? Were they just trying a double peak and got timing wrong.
Kessler has been just disappearing at the end of races all the way back to Pre. Demonstrating no finishing speed this season. It's like hes going backwards in the last 200m. As a big fan of his for years, hope he figures it out.
Nice job by several guys here. Nuguse, Wolfe, Hunter. The race is net downhill but still......Well done by these guys.
Kessler has been very poor this year. Totally fallen away. Was fine indoors and fell apart outdoors. 10th in this race. Was 10th, 14th and 7th in other races. Was solid at US Nats taking 4th place in his only strong outdoor effort.
His 3:31.12 this year is #28 in the World in 2025. He's much better than that.
The reasons it is uncertified (and will never be certified) are that it is net downhill of about 25 feet and it is a straight line, which means it can and has had a significant tailwind.
