Bridgeland girls and boys team win theirs. Bridgeland has a girl who was running in the 22s or 23s the last 2 years, but this year she ran a sub-18 a couple of times including today.
Flower Mound girls team destroys Southlake Carroll. Seems like FM always reloads no matter how many seniors they lose.
Keller boys team looked somewhat close to Southlake Carroll. Two El Paso boys teams get the other 2 state qualifying spots.
Austin Vandegrift boys team win their region even after losing many seniors and with having a young team.
Will be interesting to see how the state meet plays out as the teams go head-to-head, which will give a better idea on how NXR South is looking to play out.

21 girls broke 19 minutes, including several who had never broken 20, but sure it was 5k. It doesn't matter in these district races. It's survive and advance.
As for Leachman, I am not sure if we will see her run anytime in the near future. For our sake, I hope I am wrong. She's a terrific talent. But right now, it's a little like Waiting for Godot.
OK, by your reasoning we'll test this at Lubbock. If Caden, Kai, and the top girls run a minute slower then I will come on here and apologize to you personally.
Might be time for that apology. Many of the girls were around a minute slower at Lubbock and Region 1 was still a fairly fast course with Wingard running a 16:54.

yes sir, I give you that. I apologize on the girls.
Lubbock over Southlake course (girls):
Sather +103 (injured or blew up?) Gutierrez +51 Davis +60 Calaway +73 Graves +59
Macy was only +24 over Marcus and ran 17:00 on the Southlake course early season (warm).
The boys is closer (why, I don’t know). Having a daughter that just graduated from Southlake, it appears the average girl is more inconsistent than the average boy race to race.
Northwest Nelson had a challenging Regions overall.
You have to agree though that at equal distance, Southlake is one of the fastest courses in the state and even the nation. That was my point #1. #2 Lubbock is one of the slower courses in the state.
Even when they run the 2024 course at Southlake, which is 3.107+, it is so fast they still get hate. Caden still ran 14:33 and 5 girls 17:42 and under last year (same as this year).

Macy did run slower at Southlake. Districts were 70 degrees, it was probably closer to 75 when Macy ran the early season meet.
One thing I notice out of R1 was that the top 4A Boys times were faster than both the 5A and Noah's 3A race. I know he really didn't have any competition, but that was surprising to me.
Hummel winning R4-6A was a shocker. He's a heck of a runner, but that was a big win for him. I did think he could beat Esparza. Kai in 5th at 15:55 was much slower than expected for him on that course, BUT I will give him and Vandergrift the benefit of the doubt and hopefully they were just running enough to win.
R3-6A is awful this year compared to the others, but R3-5A top 3 were very fast comparatively. I suspect those 3 will be on the top of the podium next Friday.
