I'm 60 years old: I only care about three things

Something else that often clouds people's judgment:

I have a friend who is mid 50's. He has never been married but has dated and had sex with more women than you can imagine.

He's been in two long term (7 years and now 3 years) relationships.

The women he dates, from their 30's to 50's, go out, drink, hook up, etc and he thinks every woman does that.

His current "love" is 53 and has been married or in a constant state of relationship since her early 20's. She had an 18 month long affair when she was married and had 2 young children.

He thinks every woman simply wants to have sex all the time and will do anything to get it.

The 30 year old I just dated doesn't go out to bars (anymore) she's 30, owns a house, has a career and actually wants to have a child via IUI and be a single parent.

She (and I) stopped drinking last December. She doesn't want alcohol around when she has the baby.

OK, you get the idea. Every woman isn't looking for Joe body builder to be a trophy date with.

Some women look for other qualities in a man. She (and others) do say that I'm good looking (see the father, not the grandfather) from WLS2, LOL.

I had a guy doing yard work at my house say- you seem to in shape and good looking. Do you date young women?

Seriously. I'm FAR from a stud- 5'7/ 138-140 but, like I said, I come off as quietly confident and not arrogant. I do simple things like hold the door for women, the old fashioned gentlemen things.

I dress normally- no loose clothes, no t-shirts with some slogan or picture, no baseball hat, I'm clean shaven and I have a full head of hair that I keep well groomed but not TV newscaster like.

What can I say? I once had a guy tell me that "husbands hate me" because I'm upbeat, good looking and have a full head of hair. Yeah, that was really odd.

One guy introduced himself to me and warned me that he and his wife are happily married. I never hit on his wife, nothing.

I don't know. We all don't fit stereotypes.

I'm not perfect either--FAR FROM IT--but I don't get the Gen Z obsession with video games. And I say this as someone who used to love them in the '90s but quit playing b/c I felt self-conscious about how I'd be perceived by playing them...it does affect you socially.

(Not you) but Men in general, don't fall victim to the stereotype of being lazy losers who play games. Work hard, grind, go to college and finish that degree or get that master's. Women are outworking men as a result, etc., getting educated, better jobs and more $ than men, etc. now.

Men need to do better.

First of all, Y Pestis, you obviously have not met my beautiful, sexy, brilliant, successful, accomplished wife in her sixties. Fit young women are fun to look at; but they do not tempt me to stray from the amazing lover I have at home. perhaps as you mature you may discover the consolation of aging: the range of women you find attractive simply expands northward from the twenty somethings to whatever age you are now.

well.......ok man.

but it's not a coincidence that nature made young women as beautiful as they are. A young woman have to attract a man to sign away his future to. That takes extreme attractiveness. Young women are the best thing humanity makes - they have to be, otherwise, we'd not have marriage and family and rearing a child who takes 15 years of support to become an adult.

At 60 women don't have to attract a man anymore for the continuation of the species, in an evolutionary sense.

Keep telling yourself that bud.

2) I wouldn't try to rationalize a relationship on what happens in fairytales. I understand in the abstract that two people with decades between them could feel in love but it's never not creepy and disturbing in practice. The whole "love is love" argument is just co-opting the idea from romantic relationships where you would assume the two people who wouldn't/shouldn't be together on first glance are. People 30 years apart shouldn't date, some things are just understood.

3) Girlie was trying to live out her fantasy of rolling with an old man. Real mystery of love there

I don't recall you mentioning where you met these young girls at? It wasn't at a gym?

I'm a 60 year old high school dropout who pays video games every day. Also retired 6 years ago and married to the beautiful athletic woman of my dreams. Nothing wrong with video games dude, blaming men's issues on video games is just lazy thinking.

It so reeks of denial, it's hopelessly sad.

If you've got "husbands hating you" & young ladies telling you how good looking you at your age, with your lack of size & not loaded $$$...you've have really beaten the game! Congrads!

As I mentioned before, there are 60 plus year old guys I know with money who have gotten hair transplants, built a jacked body on TRT/HRT, etc, - and they're not getting young hot girls at all except for the occasional single mom who's average looking & far from anything hot. Lol.

And as I mentioned previously, I get more compliments on my physique from guys at the gym than women. I'm invisible to any younger, attractive women...period. You have it...I don't. Lol.

Same on the dating apps, I get interested mostly from women my age & considerably older (70+). Many aren't that pretty but most are in shape with a trend toward weight training & masculinity. A lot are also widows where we share that unfortunate circumstance in common. In fact, this is what some of the old women look like that find me attractive: 😯

Funny thing - my 25 yr old son says I should quit complaining because these women are my "looks match." 🤣

At 68 (and a life long runner), I would say-

1 - Taking care of what I care about (wife, horses, dogs, cats).

2 - My work, which is necessary for #1, but fortunately also a lifelong passion from which I have no desire to retire.

3 - Running/fitness

What kind of work do you do?

1) That's great until your health turns for the worse. Or you are in an accident.

2) That's great until your employer decides you are no longer fun. Or you lose your health, or have an accident.
