I don't even remember how it came up, but she said something about it and then called me a conspiracy theorist for believing Covid 19 came from the Wuhan Lab. I said it wasn't something "I believed" per se, but that the FBI, CIA, and US Department of Energy all did their own independent investigations into this and all concluded it was the most likely origin of the virus outbreak, though results were less than definitive. She got mad and more or less dismissed it as meaningless and said something indicating she didn't care what any of those reports said.
This whole thing really caught me off guard. I didn't realize people didn't know this? How are people this ignorant in 2025 when it takes less than a minute to look into stuff like this?
Also, maybe a different thread entirely, but has anyone else noticed that liberal women seem to not base any of their thinking on actual facts at all? I know this will probably anger some people, but I've historically been a left leaning moderate, and this is something I've been noticing more and more in recent years, that liberal women in particular seem to be both almost unbelievably ignorant of facts as well as totally impervious to them when deciding what to think. It's been really odd.
Have you seen the sidewalk interviews on you tube? Most are HS and college graduates. Some could not tell the interviewer how many hours in one day. Some had no clue who Ben Franklin was, or Abe Lincoln.
My question is, how did these people graduate middle school, not to mention high school?
You think they are legit and that the dumbest ones are not cherry picked?

Note the scientists and the intelligence agencies have two different approaches in making their assessments. The intelligence agencies determined that the Chinese were withholding information, so must be hiding something, and drew negative inferences from these omissions to reach their conclusions, with "low confidence", while the scientists look for data from the outbreak of the current virus, and lessons from previous outbreaks.
Here is a recent scientific paper on the genetic tracing of the virus, linking two spillover events to the Huanan market. Looking at the figures, everyone can see that the virus was found in many stalls all over the market. It remains possible, but the lab leak theories would be challenged to explain how both lineages managed to make its way to the market, rather than anywhere else.
Why do people act like “Proximal Origins” is still a key piece of evidence. It’s not 2021.
Furthermore, was the "lab leak" idea killed off by the "Proximal Origins" paper? I always thought they were competing theories, both with insufficient evidence.

Imagine in mid-2021 predicting that liberals would still be so idiotic in 2025 to “not believe” that the Covid outbreak in Wuhan China came from the coronavirus gain-of-function lab in Wuhan China.
Even after knowing that there were 3 scientists that worked in the lab that were hospitalized in Sep/Oct of 2019.
Even after knowing that the city of Wuhan China was dead during the World Military Games in Wuhan in Oct 2019.
Even after Fauci was caught red handed lying to congress multiple times about gain of function experimentation.
Even after Fauci, Daszak, and Collins were caught coercing other scientists (emails, documents, etc) to try to downplay the obvious facts that support the lab leak theory.
It’s unfathomable how intentionally ignorant these people are. I will never understand why they CHOOSE to be so stupid.
Good thing is- they’re all crying again like dumb little bltches nowadays. So I suppose I’m all for it. LOL

Vitriol and drivel. Thanks for contributing nothing to the conversation other than confirming you turned your brain off in about 2021.

Yeah, the two strains circulating at the same time very early on is a major supporter of zoonosis for me. How does that fit with a lab leak? There were two lab leaks at the same time?

It's telling you start your post with "imagine", and immediately follow up with "believe" as if "believing" one theory over others is the path that is not "idiotic".
The thing is that in 2025, we still don't know, and both "lab leak (man made or animal origin)" and "zoonotic" origin theories have neither been proven, nor disproven. There are reasons to believe any of these theories, as well as significant obstacles to believing them.
I prefer to weed out and ignore the politics and and fantasy and religion, and follow the facts as far as they can take us. This may still take a while.

The thing to remember is that if Trump posted something about zoonosis being correct, some posters would be screaming at us for not thinking it’s 100% certainly zoonosis the next day.

Probably. As another poster ironically posted:

By one count, Trump lied more than 30,000 times during his first presidency, or an average of ~21x per day. He is good at tapping into latent racism/xenophobia, and blaming the Chinese for his own ineptness/incompetence/ignorance.
Surely you get action by calling people "pureblooded" right? Nobody is your enemy. The average person on both sides of the political spectrum just wants a safe and prosperous life for them and their family.
