Hartman will have plenty of competition that is going to challenge her - regardless of whatever distance she wants to focus on. The NCAA has incredible talent right now, especially 400m on up.
Paityn Noe is a year behind her in school and has been nipping at her heels consistently.
2024 NCAA 10k:
8. Hartman 32:54.98
9. Noe 32:57.29
Pre-Nats XC:
6. Hartman 19:15.2
7. Noe 19:19.5
XC Nats:
5. Hartman 19:39.5
7. Noe 19:42.3
NCAAi 5k:
6. Hartman 15:11.10
8. Noe 15:11.89
NCAAi 3k:
5. Hartman 9:03.37
7. Noe 9:03.78
Noe is an absolute gamer and clearly has the engine to compete at the top, feels like she just a bit behind right now in speed for the closing kicks in championship races which makes sense when Hartman has a 4:24 mile in her.

I like Noe a great deal as well. Both have great futures.
According to IAAF profile, Grace Hartman also ran 11.81 for 100m in high school. That would be fast enough to get the attention of some D1 schools as a sprinter.
Other people have cleared this up but I want to provide some details since I went to high school with Grace.
Grace was the anchor for the girl's 4x400m, and could split a 59-60 right after winning the state 3200m. And given how easy that 3200m was for her, I'm not sure she would have run much faster with fresh legs. The sprinting workouts were the only ones where I got faster splits than her. To this day, Grace is not much of a kicker, and I don't think she would even break 12.5
I’ve followed Ohio T&F and XC for many years. There’s been a lot of good talent from Ohio to NC State over the years.
Connie Jo Robinson, Laurie Gomez (Henes), Laurie’s husband, Bob, Mercer (Woodridge runner. Can’t remember 1st name Bob Henes also a Woodridge runner), Dominique Clairmonte, Sam Bush, Gace Hartman, and I know I’m missing a few.
NC State fans will be happy with another Buckeye arriving in Raleigh this fall. Dani Scheffler could be the most talented out of Ohio yet. I contributed to this forum when Grace committed and I hyped her. I’m as excited or even more excited about Scheffler.
It doesn't appear to be a very prestigious meet. They have 16 heats of the 1500 men's and the entry standard for women's javelin was 40m and had a few throw 26m. Sound like a money grab and anyone can enter.
What is the most 'prestigious' meet from this weekend?
Laurie Gomez graduated from Youngstown Boardman High School in 1988 Her outstanding high school credits include six AAA State Meet Race Titles (Three in cross country, two in the 1600 meter run and one in the 3200 meter run).
Bob Henes graduated from Peninsula Woodridge High School and North Carolina State University While a high school runner, Bob won two State Titles in cross country and three State race titles in track.
I would have liked to have seen what Hartman would have done in that same field that Kosgei was in last night. She soloed her effort and didn't look like she was at her limit at Raleigh. Are either of them capable of beating Valby's 30:50 this year?

If Kosgei had not tried to go with the 30:00 pace she surely would have had a better shot. As for Hartman my guess is not this year. And for both, this was probably the one chance this year although NM does have the Bryan Clay and Payton Jordan meets on their schedule.
Uhhhhhhh … Biiiiiig Hartman fan here, she’s terrific, but Tuohy’s 3000m record wasn’t put under threat all season by anyone in the NCAA. That record might stand for a very long time.
I think Hartman has a shot at it, and if you mean Tuohy’s mark will stand as the NCAA record for a long time, don’t bet on it. Hartman was one of 14 women at 8:46 or faster this year. You’ve got 12 women from 4:23 to 4:26 in the mile. You’ve got Lemngole running 14:52 & 8:41 as a sophomore and Kosgei 8:44 and 15:00 as a frosh. High schoolers running record times like Hedengren at 15:13 and 4:26y. I seriously doubt Tuohy’s record will last another 5 years.
But which collegiate record lasts longer, the current 3000m indoor, or the 10000m?😆

This is the NCAA final not your nephew’s Tuesday night T-Ball game, if an athlete has a really disappointing outing it’s completely understandable they would want to get out of the situation and process the emotions privately. It’s just as respectful to leave and let the winners enjoy their moment as it is to engage in the contrived hugs and good jobs. A healthy dose of self-hatred is a good thing for any high level competitor to have.
