Would it really be that much of a pain for them to run more than 4 people per heat in the 200? Obviously the turns are a little tight in the inner lanes, but it's a bit ridiculous to delay the meet because some mediocre sprinters (26s in the 200, 37 in the 300) want to run a tenth of a second faster. Or the meet directors can take the small heat sizes into account and space the events out more.

Why were there only 3 people in each heat of the 200? No one cares about the indoor 200. Especially when there is a mile WR attempt happening later in the meet.

the 200 isn't even a legitimate indoor event. it's just a money grab. annoying. should have put them at the end of the meet the way they do with JV wrestlers at the end of a meet.

Another thread just kicked off claiming that Dathan "Carlton" Ritz has called the attempt off, which while more than likely untrue, isn't the wildest trolling attempt ever seen here. We have two heats of the mens 300m up and those were meant to start 30min ago. This mile could end up starting 40min late which really sucks for a WR attempt. As people have said hard to believe a decision couldn't have been made an hour ago to rearrange the timetable and put these elite miles on immediately after the 200's. Not good.

50-50 for wanting him to get it. Shows how big of a star Jakob is. Got to imagine most of the people voting no are Jakob fans and most people on this site are US based. If the WR was held by anyone else, I’d think it would easily be 75%+ wanting him to get it

It's a lot more than a tenth of a second over 200m, it's closer to a full second difference between lane 1 and lane 6 on a banked track. You have to run 4-person heats in the sprints because it's just too unfair to whoever draws the inside lanes

Yeah when I said it wasn't the worst attempt, I was saying "it's really plausible this could be the case". I wouldn't be shocked if that happened.

The delay will mess up bicarb and other stuff intake timing. Not even close to WR.
