I remember a year ago thinking people were obnoxious when they said Cooper Teare should do the steeple. What happened to digging in the family tree (e.g. Fisher goes back to Canada, Wolfe seeks out some England / Ireland / citizenship (according to the origin of the name Wolfe))? I sure as hell wouldn't choose to compete for the US if I had the ability to compete for a non Kenya/ non Ethiopia country.

Everyone keeps referring to him as a Distance guy. He is not a distance guy at all. He is not a 5,000m/10,000m guy those events are a complete waste of his talent. You put him on a scale it would probably indicate he is more 400m/800m then he is even 800m/1,500m. The guys best even based on IAAF score I would guess is the 800m. He is running 48 and did I hear split ,46 once also? I'm going to out on a limb and bet he has the potential to run the following times:

100m: 10.50 (Guy is fast)

200m: 21.50. (Still hold his own)

400m: 44.90. (World Class)

600m: 1:14.00 (World Class)

800m: 1:41.50. (World Record Potential)

1,000m: 2:13.00. (World Class)

1,500m: 3:30.00 (National Class)

Mile: 3:48.00 (National Class)

3,000m: 7:40.00 (Not His Distance)

5,000m: 13:20.00. (Too Long)

10,000m: 28:15.00 (Way Too Long)

I also don't think NAU is the school he should be at. He should be at a school like Texas training with a guy like Bizimani who is a very similar runner to him. The coach would have him running events such as the 4/8. Look he is the running equivalent of a guy that likes guys but is so good looking that he can't just tell the ladies that I don't think any of you are cute I like all your boyfriends. UT would let him be him and get him running fast and relieved that he can just do that finally.

No offense but you have no clue at all. Colin could NEVER run 10.5, 21.5 or 44.9. That is just crazy talk. It would be shocking if he ever runs 1:41.5 and it is really unlikely.

I think he could run 13:20 this season, and I don't think he'll ever run something like 44. His pb right now is 13:38 in a season opener that he won. I really like his potential at 3k, and I'd bet he runs sub-7:30 before he's 23. He beat the Young bros in XC in HS and ran the fastest HS XC 5k ever. If I went out on a limb, I think he'll run 1:41-42 and 3:27-28 because that's where he'll focus, but if he trained for the 5k, I think he could go into the 12:40s. Maybe he'll be the 3:28 guy who moves up to the 5k because the top 3 in the US 1500m is too deep, and 3:28 guys win 5k medals.

it's a different era, 1:41.5 aint what it used to be. Get with the times we have college kids running 7:30 and Americans running 1:41 out of the medals

Bro ran 3:33 and came 4th at NCAAs (behind 2 guys who have competed at WCs btw) at age 20 and you think his training isn't good enough lmao

Also this is literally a thread about him running a 400/600 double, and he already had a 1:45 pb. This is like saying Nico Young should've gone to UW so that he could run some 800s/1500s after he ran 1:47/3:34 pbs last year

Also I'm a year older than him and I think it's so weird when people talk about HS and college runner's love lives (lifes?) out of nowhere.

You are seeing someone I don’t see. Colin is a 21 year old who has run 1:45.63 and 3:33.96, a very promising talent but you think he will run 1:41-1:42 and 3:27-28, but you also think he could run 12:4x if he focused on it. I think Colin is closer to his lifetime bests than you do, although I grant that 1:43, 3:30 and close to 13 would be possible. You just take it a whole further step, and Colin hasn’t shown that at all. If he were undertrained in HS then maybe, but that wasn’t the case. We shall see.

Bizimana is also a strange comp and model. If you wanted to say UVa as a better match of talent I could see it, but pushing anyone away from Mike Smith and Flagstaff is odd.

You don’t underdress the sport kid. 1:41.5 is not something any American has ever done. Do not assume Colin can do it. He has not shown this sort of ability. Not at all.

A guy that was the best HS XC runner in the nation is really a 400/800m runner? Was Flatt the 2nd best? Your estimates for 100-800m are nuts and unlikely for 1000m. 3:30/7:30 will be easy for him and he’ll break 13:00 for 5000m. He’ll probably never run a serious 10000m.
