After finally being able to watch the race, I’m even MORE impressed with Grace Hartman! She took the lead at 2k approximately and just obliterated her competitors AND the course!
The previous course record at WakeMed, (to my knowledge), was set back in 2015 by Anna Rohrer from Notre Dame in 19:26.40.
Grace just won this past weekend in 19:15.
This means that she just ran faster on that course than: Henes, Dominique Clairemont, Chmiel, and TUOHY! The fastest ever at WakeMed.

KUDOS to Hartman. WOW!
I'm not sure if Tuohy ever ran a 6K on that course. But yes in 2020 Clairemont won in close to 20:00 as I recall.
If you look closely at about 20:45 you see Smith staggering toward the finish and falling. But before that back just a little she had fallen and stayed down for 10-25 seconds.
Agreed. But my point was about Hartman far surprassing expectations and being incredibly impressed with her.
I’ve been able to watch Hartman run and have kept up with her career since she was at Oakwood HS in Ohio. I can’t say that I’m surprised by her success.
Those that have followed Grace in high school knew that she had it in her. A lot of her recent success can be attributed to her mental attitude. She is well-adjusted mentally and is not only a very good runner but also a good person. I’m happy for her and hope she stays strong through the regional meet and the NCAA championship.

KUDOS to Hartman. WOW!
That moves she made in the woods on the last steep hill was decisive. Silvia Jelelgo had no response to that. It was similar to what Gary Martin did to Wolfe & Shrand. Both just ran away from and obliterated the competition.
