This is the most interesting championship by FAR. Big 12 is more top heavy but the ACC decides nationals this year.
So many different regions represented. Are kids injured, are the they not. Full squads for the first time, fire power up front.
It’s a great course.
popcorn worthy event for sure
I might flip UNC and Stanford on W side. Even with Bunnage (and Kennedy/Dudek) I have not seen that much in the 4/5 runners for Stanford. Winning team score (I'd say by ND) likely pretty high imho. You might see 3 Clemson, 2 NC St, 2 Stanford before ND 1. I'd like to see Sprout somehow find a win for Stanford.
Hartman definitely could win, 6th at Pre Nats is strong and her losses this year have been to the Clemson trio and the Alabama/Tulane superstar(s). Could see any handful of Hartman, Jelelgo, Kosgei taking home the win, with Gapes, Chepngetich, Kennedy in the next tier, then Chisholm, Brown, Alanis, Covert battling out the top ten. Names to watch to surprise could be Zofia Dudek, Amy Bunnage (if she runs),Margot Appleton (if she runs) and Angelina Perez among others (FSU etc.)
team wise I don’t disagree too much with that order, although Florida state could place in the top five.
Stanford would be the favorite with their Big 4 of Sprout-Boyden-L&L followed by their star frosh. Without Cole, could still take it with good days from the other three plus a couple of great races from frosh Bergeron, Koon and Dargan. If not, then ND likely FTW.
Regarding women, word is that ACCs has been targeted as Bunnage's season opener following return from a late spring or summer injury. As mentioned above, Stanford women would then have a very strong Big 3 of Kennedy-Dudek-Bunnage -- but fall off severely after that. ND should be the favorite in any case.

Stanford falls off to Stewart/Flynn/Dadamio, so there is hope.
Each of ND, State and Stanford can win. Homer move, but I think on their home course, NC St finds a way to win a close one.
If someone runs poorly, Clemson, NC and Virginia lurking as well.

Clearly from someone who is out west and hasn’t followed the ACC this year

Well, yes, slight hope.
Those 3 are serviceable D1 runners -- along with being highly regarded AAs in hs -- but for a team competing for a top-10 national spot and ACC title, would expect them to be 5-7 runners rather than 4-6.
Plugged in Bunnage next to Dudek at Pre-Nats and came up with a total just ahead of NC St for 7th . . . but still well behind ND in 5th.
Regardless of who runs for Stanford, ND still looks to be the favorite based upon Pre-Nats. However, agree that a national champion getting the home field advantage probably should be considered a co-favorite.
And, it's now the day before the race and entries are still not posted.

Wow, this name just jumped out at me. I used to race (and lose to) his father many years ago. Tragically died while jogging the course with one of his runners at the state meet when Quintin would have been only three years old. His mother represented the USA at the World Championships, I think it was '97 or '99.
In the beginning, Cheryl Collins Gatons began running for fun. It was a great way to blow off stress after work. She never imagined she would end up as a two-time qualifier for the Olympic marathon trials, or that years later...
