Nico has no interest in training with Brosnan again. If he can't train with Mike Smith then he'd just start training with Cornfield and it would be the same exact training.
And Grant Fisher probably had no interest in training with Mike Scannell in his first few years at Bowerman. Things change.
If he’s forced out of Mike Smith’s group due to not being a Nike athlete, and Brosnan’s pro group is having success, he would be much more likely to go with Brosnan who he’s had proven success with, than go with Cornfield who is juggling training pros with NAU.
You are completely delusional. Maybe you're just trolling and trying to be funny?
It is such an unbelievable leap to say "and Brosnan's pro group is having success". The premise is completely ridiculous. He doesn't have a pro group, he isn't going to have a pro group. IT AIN'T HAPPENING!
There are many dozens of coaches who would be in line for a pro group before Brosnan. If you don't know who they are or aren't aware of all the successful college coaches out there, I guess I understand why you think Brosnan would be able to get one started.

There is no Brosnan pro group though.
I don't think Nico particularly likes Brosnan. They have opposite personalities. There's a reason Nico picked a college coach that is the polar opposite of Brosnan.
This will change nothing. He is a forcibly retired ex-coach. he left his last employment in shame
He wasn’t proven guilty for the whole UCLA nonsense, and even IF he was, people have come back from a lot worse
Shelby came back to medal at world indoors and will likely get a new sponsor. Gatlin came back from a doing ban and got sponsored by Nike.
You must be new to the sport if you think Brosnan has been ‘forcibly retired’ because of the UCLA situation. The only thing that brands care about in this sport is success, and Brosnan has a track record of achieving that.
You call it nonsense. The NCAA process is still ongoing.
I do admire your allegiance to some guy you probably really know nothing about. His track record of success is in high school. Pro groups don't put any value on that. Maybe the guy who coached the pee wee baseball team to the national championship will be next in line for the Yankees job.
If Jakob said he could win my local turkey trot, I’d be inclined to believe him because of his track record. I wouldn’t be saying “he said he can do it, so prove it”.
Similarly, Brosnan coached the greatest HS team of all time, so I’m not inclined to say “prove you can do it again”. The way to add to his legacy is by doing a good job with his pro group.
There is no pro group.
For all of 2023, Brosnan was saying his pro group would start in early 2024 because pro contracts end 12/31/23.
For all of 2024, he was saying his pro group would start in 2025 because pro contracts end 12/31/24.
So if we are to believe Brosnan's own, words, then all pro runners are currently locked in to their contracts and the absolute EARLIEST his pro group might start is in 2026.
You forgot the "once the Olympics are over" stage of him saying when his pro group would start.
The guy isn’t going to rush the creation of his pro group just to please his impatient doubters. He probably doesn’t want to settle for a ‘fringe group of misfits’ and is likely taking the time to secure funding from a top brand so he can do this right.
The US distance scene is somewhat at a crossroads with the uncertainty around Swoosh TC and the underperformance of OAC. If Brosnan plays his cards right, he could form one of the best groups in the country.
Nike just created a new pro group and they chose Mike Smith. They are in better hands than ever.
Ritz is doing very well at OAC and has outperformed OAC's wildest dreams. 2 Olympic medals in 2024 for a brand new shew company.
New Balance is crushing it with Coogan, ESP, Valby, MacLean, Mackey, etc. and may get a men's pro group soon too.
If any brand wants to hire a high school coach to form a pro group, they would start with SCANNELL who already has a very successful pro.
Scannell is an outlier, not a competitor to Brosnan. The reason Grant chose him is because he’s giving him all of his attention, so he’s never starting a team because Grant wouldn’t accept that.
Ritz has absolutely cooked Klecker, Hoare and Monson. Obiri definitely would’ve won a medal regardless of Ritz and probably Nuguse too. Ritz inherits talented athletes and overworks them until they ruin Theo careers, whereas Brosnan has built athletes from the ground up.
Coogan doesn’t have a men’s team, nothing to do with Brosnan.
Mike Smith is good competition for Brosnan, but you conveniently didn’t mention that Swoosh TC is just as much being coached by Jerry Schumacher who’s career as a pro coach is in ruins at this point.

Brosnan's success is only on the high school level. That's not enough for a brand to justify giving him a pro group.
Why would they pick Brosnan over the guy who coaches Lemngole or the guy who coaches at New Mexico?

This is cope. Brosnan has been supporting Nico at multiple meets over the past few years. Nico said he’s a friend of the family and not just a previous coach.

The fact you are somehow comparing the resumes of Schumacher and Smith to Brosnan could be the most ridiculous thing you've said in this thread and that's saying something.
Those guys have coached US/world and Olympic champions along with multiple American record holders. Brosnan coached high school kids.
He wasn’t proven guilty for the whole UCLA nonsense, and even IF he was, people have come back from a lot worse

You’re basing this on what? The fact that previous successful HS coaches weren’t hired?
What Brosnan did with Newbury Park was unprecedented, stop trying to judge his prospects based on the outcomes for coaches that had nowhere near as much success as him.

Scannell is a COMPETITOR to Brosnan. Why would a pro pick Brosnan over Scannell when they'd already have an Olympic Medalist to train with in Scannell's group? Grant Fisher is probably already BEGGING for a training partner - and having a training partner would definitely help Grant win too.
Do you understand the IRONY of saying Obiri and Nuguse would have won regardless of Ritz? The Youngs and the Sahlmans would have run insanely fast regardless of Brosnan.

I never compared his resume with them. That’s a reading comprehension issue on your end.
I gave credit to Smith, great resume and will continue to do great things.
Schumacher has a great resume but his days of being a successful pro coach are over. He may never coach a US pro to a major championship team again.

Grant wants a single training partner, not a team! There is no Scannell ‘group’ and there never will be because Grant said he doesn’t want to be part of a team again.
Scannell isn’t a competitor to Brosnan who is starting a TEAM.
The Youngs and Sahlman’s may have ran fast without him, but they wouldn’t have been the greatest HS program of all time without Brosnan. Don’t let your hatred of Brosnan cloud your judgement.

It’s not unprecedented. The Crater coach has had faster kids. Soles, Mostert and others have had more team success. All have done it for a longer time and without just 2 families.

You have it wrong. They wouldn’t have been the greatest high school program of all time without the Young and Sahlmans. Plenty of coaches could have coached that team to similar success.
The amount of Brosnan meatriders on this thread is insane...
Yes, there are many sock puppets supporting him.
I think they are all Brosnan. i used to think highly of his work, before he started defending himself so aggressively. Anyone ever even thinks of hiring him, they are going to research him on the internet. The stuff going on here will be obvious to anyone doing hiring.
Newbury Park was lighting in a bottle- SB knew that if he stayed longer he would have had average teams. So he bails and goes to UCLA.
His time at UCLA in his mind was never going to be a long haul, it was meant to be a stepping stone. He was expecting to be begged to come coach at a big time program. The call never came. And if a big time program did not knock on his door he was expecting pros to come begging t be coached by him
He screwed up UCLA got fired and now as each day goes by his chances of ever landing a notable college job or having a pro group with anyone worthwhile fade more and more.
He wasn’t proven guilty for the whole UCLA nonsense, and even IF he was, people have come back from a lot worse
