We changed the title of the thread to make it more factual and descriptive. It was initially entitled, "I guess Brosnan did actually do it," but the release says the former coach (Brosnan) is still disputing the allegations.
You’re a committed Brosnan hater and most likely a really bad coach. When did Brosnan say he was cleared ? All I can find is him saying he did not commit any violations. And as of now there are no violations on Brosnan. Just a hearing with the NCAA and as a current NCAA coach I do know that’s bad for the NCAA and good for Brosnan. My guess is we see a public lawsuit from Brosnan against the NCAA if the NCAA decides to move forward. This is only for Brosnan to get all the info public against the NCAA. Otherwise the NCAA has a bylaw preventing Brosnan for speaking about the case. If a lawsuit is filed he / Brosnan is free to talk about the case to anyone. And more importantly he can get the full story out there to the public. I know this because it happened to me and after I filed the lawsuit against the NCAA they dropped out and we never had a hearing. The good news I got a little money to pay my lawyer fees and I still coach today. I’m not a big coaching name like Brosnan so no one noticed my case ever existed.
Amen.
I was about text my coaching friends to give examples of situations just like yours. The NCAA plays games with people. The great thing about Brosnan he is relentless and will fight for what’s right. This attribute makes him a killer coach as he’s all in. I fu@king love it
Amen x 2
Brosnan doesn’t take BS. This is why he knows how to win

So many weedwackers in this world. Brosnan for USATF President!
nothing was found. UCLA just opted out of the case. Good try
The NCAA doesn't investigate if there isn't actually any proof. The fact that this case got to this point PROVES that there is evidence of Brosnan's violations.
UCLA didn't "opt out" of the case. They admitted that there was sufficient evidence of Brosnan committing violations.
The $5,000 is the easiest part of the penalties. Probation, recruiting restrictions, and vacating results are SEVERE penalties that hurt UCLA badly. If UCLA felt there was a chance of proving innocence, they would NEVER have agreed to these penalties.
1 small accidental violation during this probation would result in DEVASTATING penalties. The recruiting restrictions will obviously badly hurt them in the recruiting process at the WORST time as their new head coach tries to rebuild the program in her first year.
UCLA 100% would not have admitted guilt if there was no evidence.
This is the standard violator response and attitude. Admit nothing, deny everything, demand proof, and make counter accusations. Happens all the time, and so many say that Brosnan did nothing because he says so. How often do you see criminal charges brough against someone, then the individual and or their attorney deny any wrong doing and say we look forward to our day in court. Followed up shortly after with, defendent admitting guilt. I suspect the same will happen here. UCLA was likely looking to throw Brosnan under the bus, the penalty for such was something Brosnan did not wish to have levied so says he will fight. Down the road, watch a settlement will be reached with a pentlaty that Brosnan believes he can live with.

I think he didn’t do anything because there is no evidence to prove so. The factor for me was reading a full hearing was approved. That usually means the NCAA is up sh!ts creek. Once I saw that I’m convinced this is a nothing burger and that’s about it.

You’re so factually wrong here. UCLA does what 90% of Uni’s do. They take a small blow instead of dragging things out. That’s why the NCAA creates a long process. We have all seen how corrupt the NCAA has been over the last decade. $5000 and a slap on the wrists is easy instead of having lawyers and staff waste time and money on a Olympic sports they don’t care about. That goes to Football or Basketball. Brosnan is doing the right thing sticking in this to make the NCAA look stupid

Where are you all seeing the evidence that was presented for this case? All I've seen is a statement that UCLA accepted sanctions and Brosnan disputes that there were infractions.

Mu god this would be amazing. Kick Vin bag to the curb and bring in Brosnan. If there is a man that’s not afraid of conflict it’s Brosnan. The crazy thing is he would actually get crap done
Guys… if he is that sought after, someone will hire him. He lasted one year in the NCAA because he can’t be trusted. On some level, regardless of whether or not you can produce results, your employer has to be able to trust you. If he can prove he can do both, he’ll be back in the game at some point.

Sorry but the other guy is right. The NCAA doesn't sanction anyone without evidence.
Now you are saying the NCAA staff investigating tampering allegations is corrupt and out to get Brosnan? LMFAO you are shameless in your lies.
It's already been dragging on for 2 years because Brosnan started breaking rules immediately after being hired in 2022. UCLA fought as hard as they could but they were at a dead end with Brosnan obviously caught red handed.
These penalties aren't a slap on their risk. They are significant penalties that will likely hurt them for years.

Hi Sean! Good luck finding people to coach
I love this Brosnan hater. Mops floors all days and lives in letsrun
How do you know he was not guilty of any wrong doing? Do you know the specifics of the accusations? Have you seen all the evidence? Are you just taking his word for it (I'd be cautious based on his history)?
There are so many more qualified and experienced coaches out there in the college ranks who would be in line for a pro job, that don't have the baggage of Brosnan. Now that Nico has been coached by Smith and has had the success he's had, why would anyone think it's realistic he would go back to Brosnan and leave Smith?
How do you know he’s guilty ? You don’t! You’re just making up stories .
The point is that UCLA AD made a choice to care less about Track and not move forward and take a $5000 fine and probation instead of going through with a long process. That’s why the NCAA creates a long process. It causes reactions like UCLA to just bail and move on. Brosnan is one of the best coaches in the country and that’s just fact. No one says you must like him yourself. And Nico Young runs for Adidas and Mike Smith will be a Nike paid coach in a year. This won’t be ideal for anyone at Adidas or Nike. But that’s not for us to decide in the long run. You can ask why and I’ll ask why now. Remember Grant Fisher went back to his HS coach after setting US records and it couldn’t have worked out any better for him. You don’t the future of these coaches and athletes.
UCLA self reported. That was the choice they made.
