Bob Kersee?? His athletes are probably the cleanest. He’s just smart and recruits once-in-generation talent. Allyson Felix is probably the fastest “cleanest” women’s sprinter in world history. Athing Mu. Clean. Sydney McLaughlin. Clean. Come back when you have proof. None of his tables in the decades he’s been coaching have ever tested positive.
Gabby Douglas reeks of drugs. Runs bad all season, then magically is better in time for the trials and the games. One 100/200 she ran the 100 in 11.x (don’t remember of the top of my head), then she came back and ran the 200 (her first and second 100m splits were faster than her open 100m). No way she’s clean.
Free country, she can do what she wants, she is a WR holder.
But any religion is not "the truth" except to the person who believes it. I don't bemoan her beliefs. I bemoan anyone who expects someone else to believe them, or thinks less of someone who thinks differently when it comes to faith.
No, this isn’t true. True and false statements apply to religion, just as they apply to science, or philosophy or math, etc. There is no such thing as “my” truth when it comes to religion. The privatization/subjectivizing of religion, making it into solely a sphere of private emotions, is wrong, silly and very modern.
If she were to substitute "my beliefs" for the 'the Truth" it would be a strong and defendable statement about her personal beliefs. But Christianity requires its followers to proselytize resulting in this message. Really, I don't care what she believes in, I just wish she would race more.
Personally, I think she is the only person alive who could take down one of the dirtiest of all records, Marita Koch's 400M WR of 47.60 from 1985. The US came so close to breaking the Soviets' dirty 4X4 record this past weekend. Now, if we could just find somebody capable to break Jarmila Kratochvilova's 800M WR of 1:53.28 from 1983....
Many of you on this thread have ripped Sydney to shreads because she's a devout person and at the same time refuse to believe anyone has canceled her.
Most of you, by your comments and nastiness, are completely self absorbed, therefore you have no room for God. It's all about you and your hate. Very sad.

The god narrative is a sticky transmission that clouds your entire judgement, and perfectly rationalize your hate as love for others by knowing better than them. You will be never witness another group of people make judgments of your character faster than the folks who ask you where you go to church.
Thanking God is a way of thanking yourself in a sly way.
That God chose you for Olympic glory is the height of self-aggrandisement.
One should thank the food on the table for those that made it. Whether it is the people who are directly made it, the farmer, the agricultural worker, the sacrifice of the animal itself, the soldiers who enforce coercive practices in server countries. But you'll find very few of these Winner Christians ever mentioning that.
Which perfectly my idea of what they really serve, which is Mammon. Dripping with wealth and privilege, all Godly ordained of course.
How ridiculous. Sydney has never been "canceled". She's one of the most popular women's athletes at these games. I and many others can't stand her given her ultra-religious schtick and the fact that she's scared to actually race real competition, but she has never been "canceled". Total victim mentality.
She has been smeared and lost a lot of endorsements over her public confirmation of her religious beliefs.
Gee. I wonder who would have an issue with that and have the power to prevent you from keeping your endorsements?

This incel community isn’t the general public. I bet most people don’t care. Maybe a few social media comments, but again, probably few and far between.
I would like to know which sponsors left her because of her beliefs. I’m guessing none.

The issue is not whether McLaughlin-Levrone is a religious person or not. You would have to work pretty hard to find an Olympic athlete who wasn't very open about their faith in God. The issue is that McLaughlin-Levrone is a member of the Grace Community Church, a California megachurch. GCC is a very anti-LGBTQ church that goes as far as supporting conversion therapy and calls the Roman Catholic Church a "church of Satan" because it came out in support of blessings for same sex couples. The church is embroiled in a scandal for excommunicating a member who refused to take back her husband after he sexually molested children and allegedly protected a pastor who was a serial pedophile. And many have accused the church of being a cult that gets between parents and their children, requiring women to submit to their husbands and complete loyalty to the church's leader.
So, this whole "cancelled for my faith" post is really gaslighting in that she is not addressing the very serious allegations that have been made against her megachurch and is instead making the people who are concerned about the church into some sort of radical atheists who are out to get anyone who is outspoken about their faith in God.

Precious Roy with the knockout punch once again! Yea, this particular brand of Christianity is very unsettling. Lyles and Sha'carri give thanks but they don't seem cult-like about it. And actually have more to their personality.
