Call it an ‘ailment’ if you will; I’m referring to whatever it is that is at the root of her janky form.
So even though she broke the collegiate record last night, if her economy improved by only 0.5%, she would shatter that record, and it would feel easier doing it.
lol, the form police. Paula Radcliffe had far worse form and she still ran 2:15 without super shoes.
If you actually were aware of what I see, you wouldn’t be so quick to discount it, or make that statement about the Radcliffe comparison. But because you haven’t seen it by now, you probably won’t understand anyway.

BTW, I was the first to see the particularly unique abnormality in her current stride, and call it out on this message board (under a different handle), several weeks ago.
Schweizer, Cranny and ESP turned pro six years ago and have extensive resumes of championship racing. Valby made them work for it.
The fact of the matter is that the top three women at 5k are some of the best the sport has ever seen. And Valby's run was still epic. She beat Touhy and Andrews by @ 30-40 seconds. The next closest finisher was 14 seconds back. Unless Valby has just completely maxed out her running, she will be overtaking the top three in the next few years. Of course, her health is a huge question mark, but she has done very well of late managing her training and staying fit and healthy. But what is clear is that at 5k, Valby is on a completely different level from everyone else and is a lot closer to the top than anyone else is to getting to her level.

She made the race so much better to watch and her tactic gave her a legit chance. The other three had their A game so it didn't quite work out, but if any of them had an off day, it would've worked out in her favor.
She's going to continue to get stronger and the gaps will narrow.
The other 3 had their “A” game but it almost cost ESP the win. I think Valby’s running from the front style caused greater difficulty for ESP than she was expecting because her previous heat with Valby was much faster than Cranny had to run. Cranny had fresher legs for the final making it a very tight final for ESP. I think Valby may get on the 5K team yet as ESP really needs to consider if her efforts in the 5K are really worth pursuing in Paris.

Weird flex but OK.
When you see it, you won’t be able to stop looking for it. I have never seen any other pro runner with this abnormality, that will invariably result in a decrease of running economy.
I believe it does count as a new collegiate record because she still has a year of eligibility and no pro contract yet. I noticed that Track and Field News on collegiate records lists "Marks Made Outside Regular Collegiate Season" separately though, such as Anna Hall's heptathalon record from July 2022 shortly after she graduated (also from U of Florida). Like Valby, Anna already had the record and broke it again.

Please stop pretending you know everything. She just ran 14:51 in the biggest race of her life which is also the Olympic Trials. I think her economy is just fine.
Valby flat out couldn't hang. The pack let her lead and turned it on when it mattered and there wasn't anything she could do. Not smart racing on Valby's part. Give it a few years.

The downvotes indicate people are pissed they aren’t seeing it. I’ve seen only one other poster come forward on this board that was able to independently verify and see what I’m seeing.
There is a thread currently on Valby’s form, and I’m not touching it because one of the worst posters on this forum, Armstronglivs, is yet again, wallpapering another Valby thread with his mental diarrhea.
So why are you not downvoting that guy, for his constant bullying and targeting of Parker Valby? Why has he not been banned, yet?

Valby raced the best and smartest race she could have, at this stage in her career.

Exactly. If she would have sat back behind the kickers that wouldn't have helped either. So I would love for everyone that thinks they are smarter than her and her coach to tell us exactly what she should have done.

No the downvotes indicate people think you are full of crap about this issue and dont have some magic secret knowledge about her that anybody else didnt already consider. of course her form isnt perfect but form is largely overrated by people who have nothing else to contribute. and anyway, "adjusting form" is not nearly as simple as you make it out to be. this term is thrown around ad nauseam but you cant simply take a runner apart and put her back together like some bionic lab experiment. shes the fastest college runner of all time not a middle of the pack kid that needs real work. and she has a propensity toward injury if you arent careful with how you work her out. jacking around radically with that form could make things worse for her. online blowhards were saying the exact same thing about Abby Steiner when she went pro and thank god no one in her camp listened to them.
Much respect but now that she’s racing with competitors on a high level and can equal her pace. she’ll have to accept not running solo anymore or being the front runner. Without a kick she’s got to stop being the pacers for the pro’s. And based on her past history seeking out ways to improve. I’m sure she learned from this and will begin to figure out a solution to win. Should be interesting to watch how she develops in future races. I’m sure she wants to improve and win.
Yeah, she' racing at a different level, but she doesn't seem to have any tactical flexibility. If she does end up going to Paris, what's she going to do with a field of even better runners? Props to her guts, especially once she was passed, but she's facing a tough transition from the college level.

Well if she gets that chance I think she can take on a race she won't have to lead and probably hang on until they separate in last 2 laps. But don't decide to become pacer in that race. For this race, leading was best strategy, but in Paris, just latch on to the pack.
