Elizabeth Leachman: 5k National Record Attempt

She is the fastest of all time. It really isn't close since she is a sophomore. The Tuohy nuts went on and on for years about Tuohy being faster than the pros because she was younger. Suddenly the argument all changes. Nobody runs the 5k. Running fast at a young age will burn her.out. She isn't as fast at a different distance.

Not sure that applies to the 5000 and 10000 though given where NCAA times are now. Leachman now has both the indoor and outdoor 5000 records btw. Tuohy had the indoor record while Cook had the outdoor record having bested Hutchins mark. For the 3200 I think you need to consider 3000 times (adjusted) as well which will include a few 3000 times very close to 9:00 such as Efraimson, Rainsberger and Shea as well as Tuohy and now Leachman.

She's 16. And she hasn't been "constantly hurt." She was injured during xc her freshman year. That was 18 months ago. She's not the first runner who has ever been injured and then got better.

Does it really matter if she is 15 or 16? The point is that the poster should be banned for accusing her of doping.

Correct - plus she is under the guidance of someone not trying to enhance a resume, and who wants her to remain healthy.

She is maybe too young to understand what a tweaked hammy can present. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Maybe rolling it out will get it. Maybe she has a body mechanic.

Her 15:25 is likely already enough to get her into the Trials, right? It'll be a sight to behold if she's actually aiming for 15:10 auto standard.

Entered yes. But she still has 11 days to figure out if her hamstring is good enough to actually compete.

If she competes and makes her hamstring worse, then bye bye Olympics Trials.

If she doesn't compete, and her PB of 15:25 gets pushed out of the top 30, then bye bye Olympic Trials.

Hopefully her hamstring gets back to being 100%.

Chelsey Sveinssen, Nichole Jones, Grace Ping, Melody Fairchild, Brynn Brown, London Culbreath, Amber Trotter, Aurora Scott, Mary Cain...might be a Texas-heavy list but you get the point. I can't even remember the names of some of the ones who were breaking age group national records in junior high to not make an impact in high school.
