Vin Lananna is a cheat. He abused the grant-in-aid system at Stanford and got 35 guys out for cross country on some form of financial assistance at Stanford. His wife worked her magic in the grant/admissions office at Stanford and guys were getting Farmer's Aid grants and all that. He ended up getting major NCAA violations that are all documented. This would be the reason he had to leave Stanford. Vin is perfect fit at an unethical program. Vin was right back to his unethical self at Oregon and USATF and it caught up to him once again.
Pot, meet kettle
I'm not sure you know how financial aid works. 5-10 people are signing off on aid packages. Stanford has very generous fin aid packages, but nothing outside of this. Outside scholarships are included in the aid package.
Vin had top 5 xc teams at Dartmouth, Stanford and Oregon. Probably 2 top 10 teams at uva this year. Why would Oregon or UVA hire Vin if he had violations at Stanford?
Any proof that Vin even filed any complaint against Brosnan? Fun rumour but never happened.
Vin allegedly "influence peddled" his family fortune by paying the travel expenses for Hayward Field meets to selected people who attend the USATF Convention and have voting rights.
Other than your post, I've never seen any of this. He wanted to be an athletic director, which he couldn't do at Stanford. He went to d3 to be athletic director and then when he was hired at Oregon, associate athletic director and Tracktown were included in the job, as he now had AD experience.

He's actually at Usatf (in a volunteer unpaid job) to try to do something about the corruption of Max and the board, which is why Max tried to force him out.
There was a post here saying Vin got NCAA sanctions at Stanford and that is why he went to Oberlin. I believe that is 100% false as I have never seen it reported anywhere so I removed it.

Wejo you’re wrong on this one. This Stanford violations are correct with the NCAA. Vin was “asked to leave” Stanford. I’m not sure what proof you want ? Vin Lananna committed some major NCAA violations and was asked to leave Stanford. Why don’t you ask Vin himself about those violations ? He won’t be able to lie about those since they are with the NCAA. ***The rest of the message was deleted as it was off topic***

If he committed major NCAA violations, Stanford would have been sanctioned by the NCAA and there would be some record of it. I don't believe that occurred, but if it exists, that is proof.

Anyone else notice a big change in Lananna Lately?
Funny you say that, Lananna is a quirky dude. I good friend of mine who trained at Stanford when Vinny was coaching there got kicked off the track for spitting on it. Vinny had an obsession with keeping the track clean, and had an issue with runners spitting on it. He would tell them that spitting was a nasty habit, and if they needed to spit for them to go out to lane 8 and spit over the outer rail. He was often seen hosing it down with water weekly. Also, does anyone question why he moved from job to job so often? Dartmouth, Stanford, Oberlin, Oregon, USATF, and now Virginia. He did amazing at each stop, but never seemed satisfied.

Didn't he try to sue USATF?
Vin is a narcissist who has broken many NCAA rules and not well liked. You can be a good coach and be a complete assho@e at the same time. The biggest issue I’ve heard about Lananna is the disrespect he has towards others. He will do anything to make himself look good. Vn spent $100,000 of dollars of his own money to sue the USATF for his wrong doing in order to boost his ego

You can't make this stuff up!
Actually, you can make this stuff up. This entire thread of bitter aspersions tossed against Vin’s character is exactly that — made up.

Vin should have walked away after Oregon. He’s like Lance Armstrong and stayed around a bit too long. By Lance stating around riding for radio shack his dirt came up. Same is happening to Vin.
