When we are given such a scenario as in today's women's race at the 2023 berlin marathon we need to consider all the usual temporality factors/culprits:
1) The Addidas new shoes which obviously came just before the berlin marathon. Some significant weight must be attached to this shoe I believe.
2) Drugs. You can't escape this charge for every new WR. But I'm a little apprehensive here as the women's marathon WR might have been softer than we would like to think for the type of supershoes afforded the runners. Gidey has a 1:02:52 Half WR. This means it's possible to extrapolate up till 2:08 for the women's marathon WR. 64x2.
3) Windless or good weather. I think this can cause resonant physical effects with point 1 above and amplify any WR performance.
Except the first Adidas male runner finished 7th over two minutes behind Kipchoge. Everyone in front of him was wearing Nike Alphaflys or Vaporflys or the Asics Metaspeed. So the shoe angle doesn't make any sense because if it was that big of an advantage, Kipruto would've at least run a PR. Instead he was a minute and a half off his time from two years ago!
